Anyone have any pics of a hidden v1 mount. Was thinking about in he overhead console where the sunglasses go, with a remote display. heard it can read through plastic. just would like some more ideas. btw, don't have one yet.

I just got one myself. I was going to put an overhead console in our tow van, and hide it in that with the front exposed. The problem with that though, is the rear sensors need a clear view out the back window to work properly. You also need to SEE the rear of the unit since that's where all the controls are too.

I know almost all of the HALO guys have them, maybe one of those guys has a trick install.

Unfortunately it's not mine

It's from a BMW M3. All I have to say about his work --->

You could do it yourself easily though, just get a deep enough mirror and a few other things. Are you going to Towers on friday?

I'm going to be up in broward a lot of the day and meet up with Mike and Vin too, maybe we'll meet. I can explain exactly how he did it for you.

Speeding Bob also had a pretty good mounting place on the steering wheel column. Maybe he will chime in here and post some pics.

no. i was talking about haveing the v1 "brain" and buying their remote display (has all the controls) and mounting it somewhere. might beable to mount it where the compass goes. the v1 can see through plastic as i have read. it weakens the signal some, but it's a v1. Also, there is a guy that makes and sales those mirrors. pretty exspensive though. i don't think i would like that mounting location.

Personally I think that mounting location is trick and clean, almost unnoticeable until you need to notice it.

So it appears that that guy was mounting the remote display in the mirror, but the unit itself, still needs to be hidden or what's the point. And the unit is supposed to have an unobstructed view front and rear, so the more you hide it in something, the less effective it becomes.

Mine is stuck up in the headliner next to the console using the visor clip reversed. It works great. Has good view front and back and cant be seen due to window tint. SOme will say the windshiled tint strip block some of the effectiveness BUT its good enough for me...

In a bad area I can pull it down in 2 secs and push the hardwired power up into the headliner.

Like Sal I never understood the whole remote display thing.. It would be cool if you mounted the unit in the grill or some thing but then you would get no signal from behind

The way you have yours set up sounds a bit different than what I have seen on the boards. Let me take a peek at it at the next Talon meeting.
