Most CDs, make that all of them have trouble playing in the sterio. I have no aftermarket anything done to it. Normal CDs play fine...any help?

 

I don't believe that the stock CD player or changer (depending on year) plays burned CDs. I don't think it's designed to read the optical reflections of burned CDs.

Usually CD-RWs have a better chance of being read than CD-Rs. If you haven't, you may want to try that.

On a related topic, I need to keep the head unit stock, but I'd like to change my '01 changer to an MP3 changer. Can this be done?

 

It "seems" the factory stereo is known to get stuck on the CD's.

This may not help you, but after I put the Long Tube Headers with the Highflow Cats dumping into the Bassani, I hardly ever turn the factory stereo on

 

the only reason cd-rw play better is that they were burnt at a super slow speed.

and when i had my stock setup with the changer behind the seat, it had a little trouble, but was still not that bad, sratched cd it had the worst time.

so i went out and bought a kenwood mp3 player instead

 

THen can i just come on by and borrow you exhaust system...ill have it back by friday.

i never had any probs whatsoever, being a dj i play all my own mixes burned on cd, and not one ever has had a prob. maybe its a different model player?

 

My stock changer plays CD-Rs fine....

Skips every once in a blue moon but a simple power OFF and back on cures all.

 

Burned CD's don't react well to heat. You leaving them in the truck in a hot day?

It's usually because of a difference in the color/reflectivity on the disc (in relation to the color/wavelength of the laser pickup)...if you're having problems, I would try a different brand of media next time you pick up blank cd's.

Next thought would be an MP3 deck

 

Dont over burn the CD's.. Meaning, dont try to pack more then 70 mins on them. When you overburn and go 80 min+, the cd player cant read that far out like your cd burner can. I had the same experience until i stopped overburning.

 

I had the same problem and switched to Sony CD R's and now I don't have the problem.

That's 'cause you can't hear the factory system over your exhaust

 

i used to have to same prob. then i just tried burning them slow 4X seemed to work pretty good

 

more than likely you are burning the CD at too fast a speed. I burn all my at 4x speed and have no problems, but that because thats all my burner can handle.

Try burning the CD at a 4x or 8x speed and see if that helps.
