Any TX guys looking for '03 Ls ?!?

Well,

Bankston Ford here in Frisco, TX is STOCKED w/'03s! 2 Sonic Blues, 1 White '03, 1'03 Red, 1 '02 Red and an '03 Grey L. And a coupla' HDs... black and grey/black combos.

I wish I had the dig. cam. w/me, but I was on a breakfast run from the new place here in Plano, TX.

Just thought I would give anyone here a head's up!

Ronald

PS: That was quite a sight this morning with that much HP/TQ in front of the dealership!!!

BTW, there were plenty of '03 Cobra Mustangs there in White/Black/Red, etc...

Ya I remember when I worked at Bankston, we used to get new Lightnings all the time. Everytime a dealer wanted a trade from us we asked them if they had any Lightnings. Got them from all over the metroplex. Cobra's were few and far between just because I came at the end of the 01' model year and there were no 02's made so they were harder to find. But ya we always tried to get the high-end models if we could.

You're still new to the DFW area, so you'll learn....but stay away from Bankston.

Bankston had some issues before but, I know they have done alot of restructuring as far as personnel goes so hopefully they've gotten things worked out. I know one guy up there who's definately worth going up there and talking to if your in the market. He worked at an office job before so he's a real laid back guy. I've known him for about 2 years, he's twice my age, and he's still someone I can go and talk cars with. His name is Mike McCoy and he can help anyone who's interested in a new or used vehicle.

I've heard recent horror stories about the dealershipa dn the service department. I know I've been screwed out of 1k+ by one of the techs up there......they are a shady bunch as far as I'm concerned, most of the lcoal guys agree.

Wes,

Why do you say that? Not a "mod" friendly dealership in the DFW area?

Mod--free except for Bed-Rug courteousy of www.chikenearsengineering.com.

Yeah, I was up there Saturday looking around at the Lightnings. They did have quite a few. They also had a used '01-'02 L out front without a sticker on it. For some reason the 3rd brake light assembly was missing on it.

I tried to buy a 02 true blue L from Bankston last July. I used one of those car finder web sites and the internet manager called me within 15 minnutes and agreed to sell on x-plan and asked me to come down to talk the next day. Got there and talked to the internet manager and a salesperson. They did not have a true blue so they did a search and found a total of 8 lightnings, 3 were true blue. They called and said that it would be $800 extra for chrome wheels, I said ok. Then they called and said it would be extra for the bed cover. I said ok. Then the truck was on the way. Then the trading dealership sold it the morning it was to be shiped. Then the other 2 true blues were sold that verry afternoon. Surprisingly exactly one week later they received a 02 true blue lightning that they had purchased form Ohio but because of the price they paid to ship it I could not buy it on x plan pricing. They then agreed to order a 03 dark shadow grey lightning for me. I spent the next 6 months initiating all calls for updates (they had my deposit money), getting voice mails, empty promises from the sales manager. After visiting the dealership one Sunday at the end of December and seeing 03's on the lot, I called the sales manager and he said that they had no 03 lightnings. When I questioned him about the ones that I saw on Sunday he said that I could have my deposit back. One week later I got my dark shadow grey 03 lighting form North Central Ford on x-plan.

The moral of the story is if you go to Bankston Ford take plenty of vaseline.

Hmm, well how 'bout Middlekauf and Baillergeron ?

How are they as far as service, etc?

I have a couple of "bones to pick" with Ford/SVT !

Ronald

PS: Don't ever buy a Lightning at night !

I also went by Middlekauf the other day. All of the vehicles on the lot had hail damage from the storm. I tried to find out if they would lower the price due to the hail damage, but since I can get A-Plan pricing, they wouldn't go lower than the A-Plan price. So I politely thanked him and told him that I could get a truck without the hail damage for that price :-)

Ronald,
What happened? Did you miss something when you bought your truck?

Ya I personally didn't like the attitude at Middlekauf...although I dont think an upscale dealership like that would give much notice to a 20 year old. North Central seemed to be ok. Some nice guys at the one in grapevine...can't think of the name off hand. And Prestige was kinda iffy, they gave my dad a real good deal on an 03' SuperCrew, but the wait you have to endure with all the people the get in and out of there is almost a trade off. All in all it's hard finding a decent dealership. There are alot more than just the ones I went to so just take a look around.

All local DFW dealers suck, IMO. Bankston missed out on selling a 2000 Lightning to me, an '01 Escape to my then-girlfriend, and an '01 Mustang GT to my sister, all in the space of 4 months, because of their antics. Used to be that their service department would do what it took to take care of you, but I don't know anyone up there anymore. North Central sucks - they want to run a credit check on you to make sure you can buy the truck before they let you drive it, even when you pull up in an immaculate Cobra less than 2 years old. If that isn't profiling, I don't know what is. And Middlekauff flat refused to deal with me on the price of the truck, although they did better on the trade in than the other two places mentioned. I ended up going to Westway Ford in Irving, which had the most exruciating sales process ever, but I got the best deal there by far. I hated all the BS, and I don't know if I would ever get service there, but when they want to sell you something they will make it worth your while.
