The idea is to price an item high enough, so that you can keep up with the orders (Or atleast not get too far behind); and, low enough so that somebody will actually buy it. Even if it is grudgingly.

Here's what I found:

It keeps the heat created by the blower from heating up the plenum. With the spacer the plenum is not actually touching the blower thus no (or less) heat transfer between the 2. This will (should) result in cooler intake temps........thus more power

I was saying 120 was my "the hell with you I'll make my own" ...
I will concur with the wise words of the Gator:
No flame, but........

I don't know anything about the spacers, but I would think that the grade of the material used would have a lot to do with the price. It might also be "easy" to machine, opposed to say stainless steel, but Iam sure some machine shop still wants to be paid for his/her time.
If I have time I will search for where I read about the different grades of phenolic material and post them.

Because some "junkies" will pay it. I don't think they are going to sell 20,000 of these, does anyone else?

The number of L's is not like the 500,000 Mustangs on the road. Supply and Demand...

For that price, I think I'll just buy a piece of phenolic and make a spacer myself. $89 too much for a piece phenolic and a few bolts

Here is a link showing some of the different grades of phenolic material, to bad it doesn't have prices:

I can stick my hand on the upper intake plenum and it isn't too hot. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I don't have an EGR valve...Or it could be the KB...

Even if G-11 were used for this application, which is overkill as far as material specification, the cost per square foot is ~$45. Lower grades would be even less. And at least three (probably four) parts could be produced from one square foot. And since it is available in 3'x4' sheets, the nesting possibilities put the yield even higher per square foot. The bolt spacers could be produced from 3/4" diameter solid rod at a cost of ~$10 a foot, yielding probably 20 parts per foot, after subtracting cutting losses. This price could be even less, if phenolic tubing is used, where the per foot cost would be ~$7 (and less labor cost). End of the day, $89 provides plenty of room for machining cost and profit.

The key benefit of this mod is the straightening of airflow into the blower. Any heat insulation is purely secondary, as the blower heats the air far more than anything else in the system, and we are still limited by the intercooler output temperature, which I don't see being affected by a slight drop in blower intake temp. Not to mention the heat the blower produces still has to be dissapated. With the possible route of heat dissipation the upper intake plenum provides removed, the heat will just move into other components of the motor (like into the intercooler).

Vote with your wallets

If none of us agree to buy them @ $89 then I think you would magically see the price drop. If a bunch of you buy them at the full price then they will be smiling. I'm thinking something like this would be reasonable at approx. 60 bucks but not 90.
