Welp, ill be testing a grind to see if they will pass CA sniffer.

Ill gurantee you that stage 1 and 2 cams as they sit, will not pass.

Problem with this **** state is, you go 10% higher on duaration, you will most likely fail. If you cant turn up the duration, the damn cam is worthless.

114 degree lobe center for idle purpose would be good too.

I think with a REALLY REALLY lean tune at idle , through the course of the test ( 1500-2600 rpm ) you could get away with 17-20% increase in duration. Its not like you will be under boost anyways, so you wont hurt anything. Peg that sucker at 14.0 . Then a tuner could come out with a SMOG tune for that flip chip if you know what i mean.

This testing is quite costly too btw because if you arent able to install your own cams, you will be broke in no time. Then there is of course the cost for testing and time needed to be set aside for it.

Now if Superchips and Diablo Chips would get with the times and get a 4way , that would make a perfect addition for everyone with a chip.

Cant speak for the **** states BUT Texas has new inspection requirements. They now do dyno sniff tests for older than 96 vehicles and Comprehensive ODBII tests for 96 and newer.

Happy to announce that my truck passed. I am running 4# pulley, JDM chip, Old Time PSP filter, JDM Kooks Long tube headers, single high flow cats and single magnaflow. Being paranoid I reset the PCM to clear any codes. That was a BIG problem since it then throws code P1000 - ODBII tests not complete.

So I had to put some miles on it before it would pass but it did..

The complete ODBII test doesnt have to complete to pass the Texas test.

Doug

What also works really well is keep that sucker @ 3000 RPMS and get the cats smoking hot before they throw it up on the dyno sniffer. You should be able to pass with every bolt on in any state, except cams pretty damn easy.

We would fail visual with Long Tubes easily, vut glad you were able to pass in Texas. Our smog restrictions are going to get tougher in CA come 2005.

I agree with that, I would buy a Superchips 4 way in a second.
