I had a bit of trouble getting one of mine to go in as well. After several tries I finally put the head of the spring mid way between the two holes and hit the shackle with a mallet/hammer. I then rotated the shackle up and down to align the hole. I think that the powder coating decreases the inside width of the shackle.

Before you finish installing the shackle can you measure the distance from the top spring mounting hole to the frame mounting hole?
Thanks

I had the same problem when installing them for a friend.

They are surprizingly soft and easy to bend out a little. I put one of the "ears" in the vise and was able to easily bend it out enough by hand, no hammers.

i dont have a vise, so i think im either gonna go to a friends and use his, or just grind down a little of the power coating, cause it doesn't need much, less than a milimeter, but it's enough to not want to go on...

i cant even get it on the leaf spring at all, it's not wide enough.

hmmmmmmmm...

I have a set waiting to go on - but here's the ticket after spending $90 plus on these - I'll be dipped in ***** if there going in a vice, or on a grinding wheel, or struck by a hammer -

Where they will go is back in the fuvking box and off to JL -

Like the other Johnny said (Cochrane) that is - "If they don't fit you must equit" -

Sonic say's "If they don't fit - you will remit"

just get a 2x4 board put one ear under the board stand on it and pull on the other ear with your hands. It will spread, they are soft.

Well how about an explanation as to why they don't fit - ? Also, try canning that cavalier attitude "No big deal" YEAH IT IS A BIG DEAL - I don't like paying for something that doesn't fit cause you didn't take the time to make sure the product was right before shipping -

Also, it's a big deal cause now I'm out shipping cost both ways and what about my time dancing with you - isn't that worth anything ? Come on what's up with this ...?

Now I'll be painted as the a$$hole for complaining - as you spin this up like it's no big deal ...

painted? how about powdercoated?

JMHO, if someone doesn't possess the mechanical aptitude to realize a slight adjustment (in reading the information provided) on the ear of a shackle, they shouldn't be messing with it in the first place. Either make the adjustment yourself, find a buddy to help (like soap ) pay someone to install it, or send it back. Pretty easy concept.

Futthermore, allegations that JL sends out sub-standard materials is out of line.

IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL
