sonichog,

You seriously need to chill out, and take a deep breath. A couple taps with a rubber mallet, or bending the shackle is NOT that big of a deal... Is it really? Theres no need to bash on JL about that. Have you even gone to install them yet? Do you know for sure that yours are off by .00001 of an inch?

I can see both sides of this one. I also have a set of JL's 3" shackles ready to go on. I fly to Phoenix Monday to pick up my new truck and drive it back to California.

I've been building and modifying cars for a lot of years. Having to tweak, adjust, machine parts to get them to fit has become second nature to me. But sometimes I too get frustrated at how often an item will not just bolt up.

Sonic (you've got the best color by the way!), this is a real simple fix as stated above. And it can be done without harming the shackles at all. If they required some serious mods I'd return them. As you modify your truck more you'll continue to come across these deals. Trust me on that one. I call them "character builders"!

Have a good one.

Jody

wow

Well how about an explanation as to why they don't fit - ? Also, try canning that cavalier attitude "No big deal" YEAH IT IS A BIG DEAL - I don't like paying for something that doesn't fit cause you didn't take the time to make sure the product was right before shipping -
Someone needs to ask their doctor if Paxil is right for them???

This upset over a millimeter???? I couldn't get my bell techs on either, and just gave them a tweek and it was fine.

Take a chill pill and be still Phil!!!!

Oh, and making someone out to be nothing but a front is not cool either. I'm not even JL customer (not for any negative reason), but I've seen him respond to problems time and time again and have yet to see him resist. So he's not just swinging a "cavalier" attitude around. I believe his offer is genuine. As for the shipping charged, nothing I haven't seen him offer cover before, but the parts eventually end up on the trucks the majority of the time and no need to send them back.

Maybe ford just screwed up your leaf springs

it's a truck...when you work on or modify cars and trucks, 99% of the time you have to tweak ***** to get it to work. I installed a pair of JL's shackles last week and they went on just fine...had to tap them on with a plastic hammer tho, maybe I should call JL and complain

I will tell you what sonic if you decide that your to good to "tweek" these parts I will buy them from you and pay to have them shipped to my house. I know JL isnt the one machining these parts and I would almost bet that he sells so much stuff that he really dont have time to check EVERY order for 100% quality before they ship out. You forget that he has other people out there besides you. I doubt very seriously that he done this on purpose. so as everyone else said have a beer and chill TF out.

A little mechanical aptitude and a big hammer is a guy needs. Cold beer also helps grease all sticky wheels. Don't think I ever installed a suspension part that was not a tight fit.

Since we are on the topic of three inch drop shackles. I have 1" (more than that in reality) Eibach's in the front and 2" drop shackles in the rear. If i install the JL 3's will my pinion angle still be ok? I also run Truck Traks.

Sonichog, I bet you squat to ****!
Have you ever thought that your spring could be a little wider. Ford does have tolerances that could very by a couple hundreths of an inch.
PS: Do the car enthusiest community a favor and don't work on anyone elses toys !

Listen Son- believe me when I tell you - you aren't worthy enough to carry my shoes let alone walk in them - don't insult someone you don't know or have never met - because my opinion about some freakin' aftermarket parts doesn't agree with you ...

If you want to Kiss JL's a$$ take a ride to PA and do it - Don't do it by insulting me ...
