Weird sound after putting it in gear...
Sorry for the long post, y'all. 400 miles on the truck now, and I've heard this sound several times. Here goes:
A couple of seconds after placing the truck in gear -- usu. reverse -- after the truck sits for a few days (it did it the other day after sitting only one day, however) I hear this short, squeak, suck, or vacuum leak sound. I know it sounds weird, but my '01 never did that. My '01, however, was my daily driver, so it never sat more than a couple of days. I only hear it after first putting it in gear after first starting the truck. It won't do it again for the rest of the day, regardless of the number of times I start it. It must sit a while first and only after I place it in gear. It doesn't matter how long I let it warm up (usu. at least 2 min.) It just so happens I always have it in reverse, but that's because I always back out of my garage.
Could it be a vacuum leak related to the transmission, or could it be something related to the anti-lock breaks? I don't think the torque converter leaks out after a while then fills up again. Does anyone have any ideas.

Nothing to worry about, some do it, some don't, it's most likely the wormtrail purging, but the converter can leak about half empty if it sets, depends on how tight the lockup seal is, it won't hurt anything, the seal only needs to hold the other direction.

Rob....you're killin' me.
Yeah, I'm a bit paranoid in the first days. I'm sure I'll get over it.
Tech,

And, yes, you made my day.

Not a problem, glad to help. I'm also very pleased to announce that I've become an F150 Online supptoring vendor, so I'm free to answer more questions on this board now, I should have done it a long time ago.

Shazbolt- It just turned 13,000. I only drive it on the weekends so it sits in my garage during the week. It makes that soud at start up when it's first put in gear then after a few seconds it goes away. I have heard that they all will do this if you let them set for a week or so.
