remove transmission help

Looking all over the place for some info on removing my trans and replacing my T/C. Any help out there? Started today, and one thing I cannot figure out is how to disconnect the gear shift linkage. A how to site would be great! Thanks

the gear shift??????? seriously just pull out and it comes off, thats it.

First thing, remove the drive shaft, disconnect all your hoses and plugs on the tranny and drain her out. Then remove the exhaust out of the way. Remove your starter. Remove all the stock Converter bolts threw the the hole in the bottom of the tranny. Then remove the cross member while supporting the tail shaft at the same time, slowly lower the tail shaft and remove the 6 bolts that hold the bell housing to the block, there's two on the very very top of the tranny that you need to get a really long extension for and get them from way back behind the tranny, you'll see. Keep the tranny supported the entire time as you can tell, and then just slowly pull her back and out. Its not really that hard, just heavy as hell!!!!!!!! make sure you have atleast another big person there to help you with the tranny, if not 2 more people when you put it back too.

With mine, I just pulled it right off. nothing to it, when I did my first tranny I thought the same thing as you. I played with that yellow piece of plastic for like 20 minutes trying to figure it out and then my buddy came over and just pulled on it and I was like, wow ok that was easy. HEHEHEHHE

The little white plastic piece pulls straight off, if you do happen to break it let me know and I'll give you one, I have a few setting around the shop, free!
Hate to state the obvious, but there are 6 converter studs, not 4 (this has really come up before, guy couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come off, he took ALL 4 bolts off)
