Thumbs up 23# of KB Boost on a *STOCK* HD!

I was Tweeking the tune on Our H/D truck when i decided to turn it up a Notch.. Our H/D is 100% stock with the exception of our JLP Forced Air,TB,JLP LiftBars,& slicks..@ 18# of boost it went 12.3 @ 109 last week on pump gas!(Full Weight Plus a 150# bed cover!) I'm going to be taken it to Ga. This week for the NMRA. due to my lightning not being finished yet.. Well i made 10 blast with it tonight making 23# of boost!.. I know for a fact this thing will go into the 11's No Problem!.. But i think i'm going to cut it back to around 20-21# for the event..This H/D was a complete Monster @ 23#..Of course i don't expect it to take that kind of boost. but hey ive been pushing 18-19# with it everyday for about a month with no problems! and you know i'm not easy on this thing! I'm going to keep pushing the boost up so i can put 1 of my engines in it! I thought for sure 23# would have done it, but not soooooooooo. (at least not for now!).........JL

Fantastic JL!!! My concerns will not be about how much power, but rather the traction issues I'm sure will be present, while driving on the street. My white L went 12.7 and that had problems WOT from the 1-2 shift. I mean it spun really bad with Nitto555R's, traction bars and the front sway bar removed.....I can only imagine what it might be like to drive an 11 second L on the street and how that might behave....Are you working on anything that might soften our suspensions to help weight transfer, or anything else along these lines?? My new sonic blue should be here within the month and one of those KB's will surely be on my first 'to do" list.

Johnny, as a new (2 months) owner of an '02 H/D I am very curious about this post...

23# 100% stock? how can you get to that boost level without mods? no boost by=pass? no "boost turn-up tricks?"

I am not calling you out, I am truely impressed & bewildered at th same time....

Please elaborate... if all thats done is the filter, TB & suspension mods... my stock H/D is showing a high for a H/D 9.5# compared to everyone else showing 7-8#.. how can I get 23# with no mods?

All we done to the suspension is put on our Lift Bars! Thats it! with slicks and the weight of this truck with the 150# cover on, it has never spun a tire comming out of the hole! it was getting 1.72 60 fts! last week...The truck is so heavy with the weight transfer with our bars i don't think it needs much more at this point! but on the street it sure does put on a good smoke show!..... Awesome Testing Johnny, the whole community can learn from the tuning your doing to that HD. I see it's taken more than even you expected, "'THATS GREAT"

How bout throwing 100 HP of Juice on that HD so us Nitrous Guys can see how much a stock block will take

I got a question Johnny,
I've recently seen ""2"" Brand New Harleys with Main Bearing Bolts that fell off and were in the Oil Pan. That was clearly the cause of the engine failure. They also had other Bearing bolts that were 1/2 out. This makes me think that maybe Lightnings don't in fact have bad rods but the a-holes at Ford are using the wrong Bolts or not making them tight.

HAVE YOU SEEN ANY BOLTS IN AN OIL PAN YET ???
Or any that have backed out on their own ???

Please let us know if you have

FutureO: We have a KenneBell Supercharger on it. to make that kind of boost. Although i have made 19# with the *stock* SC by spinning it faster with larger pullies on the crank and smaller pullies on the SC.....

ROB: No NO2 On this baby! Atleast not for now! as far as the rod bolts comming loose none so far!...I believe 99% of the rods breaking were rod failures! Not because the bolts backed off.................JL

Sounds like you have one quick Harley on your hands JL.

I am starting to believe that the factory rods are a little stronger than some people give them credit for. I know in early 2001 several L's threw some rods for whatever reason but they seem to be far and few between now. I know 10secL has been running a 5# lower and a 100hp shot for a little over a year now with zero problems on his 2000. As well as several people on this board have run huge amounts of boost and nitrous and most of the factory motors just keep hanging in there. I am almost convinced that Ford got a bad batch of rods in early 2001 because other than those few trucks the factory motors seem to be holding up quite well.

I know a fella up here that bought a 2001 Lightning (after riding in my truck) and was running high 13s stock. He had belt sliipage problems. Well he bought a 6lb. lower and promptly blew it.

I think I remember PSP saying the 99-00 rods are good for ~ 500hp, while the 2001-2002 Lightnings were unsure about 400-450hp.

If I had the cash I'd throw a kb on my truck and run 16psi.

yes, NO CHIP. Scroll up and read for yourself, he stated "Our H/D is 100% stock with the exception of our JLP Forced Air,TB,JLP LiftBars,& slicks."

Or is there a chip in there, Johnny?
