I did it with just JLP's ram air and a Diablo chip with our 91 octane fuel. It can be done, but the launch/60ft times are what makes/breaks you in the end. Conditions have to be right, but even then, not all of the trucks can do it. Some just seem stronger from the start. I agree with an earleir comment about consistency, it is the key. You gotta practice launching, the "L" is a torque monster, and that works against you until you learn to harness it.

Sorry to break your bubble bud, but after $5,000 of mods
a sixty foot of 1.89 I am still sitting at 13.02 !!!

I think you need some slicks brother cause that 60 foot is killing you.

for 1000 bucks you should run 12's in our trucks easy, especially a 2001+ with the 3.73 gears and new intake.

I went consistent 12.6's with a 2lb lower, chip, electric fan, filter kit, TB, Tr6's and E.T. streets and that was it. Of course being a 99 style intake and rear gear doesn't help either, but back then we never got the awesome tunes like now. It just keeps getting better and better guys.

Depends on temp

I all has to do with temp, humidity and altitude.
Many times I've seen northern L's which do the 12's in their 40 degree temps, come down to Florida and can't seem to get out of the low 13's.

I for the longest time could not for the life of me break out of the 13's. It seemed the more mods I added the higher the et. As it turned out as soon as I ran it with drag radials it went into the 12's. I was spinning tires all the way down the track with the F1's.
Good luck with getting into the 12's and remember even those guys with the 10's do it when the temps are in the 40's and maybe as high as 50's.

Joe, I am running ET Streets, warming them up and doing
every damn thing I can to get it down ... Believe me, nobody
is more frustrated at this "problem" truck than I am ...

Next step is to buy a datalogger that I can send the data
to Sal so he can see what's happening ... Then maybe we
can figure it out ...

Hey Cliff,
Just a shot in the dark. Have you changed the fuel filter yet? If not it's time anyways.

PS. Is the track open yet?

Later,
Kurt

Yup and Yup ... Going down again Friday ...

I changed the fuel filter less than 3000 miles ago ... Would
hope that it lasts longer than that.....

2002 Lightning w/ SnugLid hard tonneau and Goodyear F1's
-Accufab Throttle body
-REM Cold Air Intake
-Diablo Delta Chip
-Boost Bypass Mod

Traction and great air+drag radials or slicks is the combo you seek.

I ran 6 12's in a row hot lapping my 00 with et streets, chip, pro-m and the 373 gear that was installed before i took delivery.
Another board member also ran his first 12.90's run[on drag radials] in his 99L on the same day back in 01.

One week later with good air and a well prepped track[Mid Michigan Motorplex], i ran 12.79 @108 with no pulley on 93 octane.

That's NOT an '02 ... The '00's are famously modable ...
