i had my factory intercooler replaced due to an accident. the intercooler alone (XL3Z-8K226-AA, from insurance list) cost $560.07. compare that to the power steering cooler, replaced at at $61.03 and trans cooler, replaced at $83.78. if i was replacing this at my cost, i would have gotten the JDM. must be a piece of engineering work to cost that much.

Put the grill back on looks to ricer without. But more importantly gives you some protection so nothing goes flying through it.

I like that photoshop, but that exhanger is set kinda back so itll look odd from an angle right? hmmm, nice idea tho, but i would say fabricate something or just stick the grill back on. Its nice to advertise but in this case,

Curious, what the heck does that thing do anyway? (yeah i like looking dum )

Curious about something.

So, if the unit is larger...is it also heavier? It stands to reason that it's weight would be greater, if it holds more fluid. In that case, what are you gaining? Larger radiators, transmission coolers, and oil coolers have obvious advantages to engine health. What is the advantage of a larger heat exchanger if any added boost associated with a cooler charge is negated by higher weight?

This is in no way meant as a flame. I like it and would like to know more about its functional benefits.

I pulled my lower grille to add some fans and also because I wondered what it would look like without the grille.
As soon as the fans are installed the lower is going back on

Ok i got it, compressing air makes heat, plain and simple. Hot air isnt exactly what you want because it is less dense, so a larger heat exchanger = less heat = better air = more speed. Someone slap me if im incorrect.

Actually, read my post again. It doesn't really ask "why do you want a bigger heat exchanger?" which is the question you answered; it questions whether or not you are possibly negating the benefits of a cooler -- less dense -- charge with the higher weight of a bigger unit.

Anyone?

Here is the way to ask the question....How much does the stock heat exchanger weigh. How much does the Fluidyne heat exchanger weigh?

I would like to know also.
