For those with Roush Suspensions, or suspension gurus...
Well it looks as though tomorrow im going to be ordering the Roush kit for the L!!! Im so damn excited its not even funny....
Now, back to business, I have a couple of questions for all of ya.
1) Obviously its going to handle better, but I have a question about the FEEL of it...In other words, is the steering tighter, like say, a BMW?
2) Im going to get it profesionally installed, and besides telling them to put the STOCK front bumbstops in the rear and the ones roush gives in the front, should I tell them anything else to get the full performance?
3) I have my hitch and spare on, and also a pro-sport bed cover...should I remove any of this to help out the suspension? Is it really necessary to?
4) How bad does it "bump-steer"?
5) What do you think the average price to have this all installed would be?
Sorry for all the questions, but im really curious, and any help would be awesome!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELPIN ME OUT GUYS!

I would think about $200.00 should do it ...
Also, there aren't any instructions, so the
torque specs and such shoudl be printed out
from here, maybe along with teh alignment
specs and the pictorial install that Crazyone and
I did a while back ...
Good luck !!!
You will need to buy a bolt for the front's that are
going on the back. I will try to remember what
we used ... it was about 1 1/4 long by maybe 3/8"

1) Obviously its going to handle better, but I have a question about the FEEL of it...In other words, is the steering tighter, like say, a BMW?
It's much tigther then a stock regular BMW. You will definately feel it.
2) Im going to get it profesionally installed, and besides telling them to put the STOCK front bumbstops in the rear and the ones roush gives in the front, should I tell them anything else to get the full performance?
Nope, just put the spring covers back on the fronts.
3) I have my hitch and spare on, and also a pro-sport bed cover...should I remove any of this to help out the suspension? Is it really necessary to?
I havn't yet, though it'll help with your payload capacity decrease if you do.
4) How bad does it "bump-steer"?
Others have said some, I have had any real issues with it myself on regular roads...I mean, yeah, big holes are still a problem, but no more so then when I had my stock suspension. Of course, my tires might be helping on this. All about bumpsteer: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/longtech3.htm
5) What do you think the average price to have this all installed would be?
I paid ~$200 to get mine installed (~3hrs)
6) Depends on what you requested.
I can include up to:
shocks
springs
bump stops
camber bolts
You'll need all of them, the last two can be from anywhere.

I installed the kit about 6 weeks ago and am very impressed with way it handles. I used my existing rear bumpstops but I removed about 3/4 of an inch from them. The ride is stiffer and the truck corners very well now. I didn't have the Bilsteins before so i know the new shocks helped. I think the Pawn covered everything well.
Good luck

I installed the roush kit a couple weeks ago on my 02, I also reused my drop shackles from my previous kit, I love the stance, not to low, but low enough, I have removed my hitch and spare, the truck handles good, its totally different from "other trucks" its like driving a car, I'd even say it handles as well as the 00 mustang I traded for it. the ride is even smooth, not bone jarring over bumps, its a good kit, body roll is reduced over stock a stiffer front sway bar would help even more. if you can get it installed for $200 go for it, I installed mine myself with the help of my friend.
and we did the install late at night, I was to tired to mess around with bumpstop so i just sawed my stock rears in half, work fine

I don't think I have ever seen a Lower "SPRUNG" Lightning and it handles like a dream. However, you do sacrafice some ride comfort on Bumpy roads...I have Custom Lower Control arms so I didn't lose any Spring rate also.

I have my Roush suspension, 4 QA1 shocks and BellTech shackle on my 02 for 6 months.
It handles better than stock but it gives too much road feedback! (The Roush leaf spring is very stiff)
I took the hitch and spare tire out so its way too light at back.
My suggestion to you is that it will handle better than stock and corner like a car, but its still a truck with 450lb of torque.
I lost control and crash it ($2000 body damage) because I though it should handle like mini cooper....
It just came back from the body shop a month ago

ok compare the handling on the L when having roush suspension WITH bigger sway bars (hellwig or hotchkis) to say...a new bmw 328i??
Is it like comparing a tractor to a porsche?
or what?

1) Doesn't the Roush kit come with shocks? What made you switch to the QA1s?
2) Are the Roush Bilsteins dramatically different from our 01-03 ones?
3) How extreme is the kit? By this, I mean will my 60' times decrease significantly? I know it's impossible to find a truly ideal balance between autocross handling and dragstrip traction, but I'm trying to avoid something *too* stiff for the strip.
Finally, on the subject of value vs. handling, Roush or Ruslow? My dream suspension setup would include lots of Ruslow and Hotchkis bits but should I be settling for the Roush based on price-alone? Or wait it out and just get the best (Stan's and Hotchkis, etc.)?
