Aw, heck!!

I don't think we should get discouraged over one article. Anyone found any similar articles, or are these claims substantiated somewhere? Is this a welcome to last week thing? I've been out of the loop for about two weeks.

This guy is talking out his A$#!!
He get's his information from suppliers? Fat chance of getting accurate and detailed information.

Ford is not going to go to an Auto show and have the Chief Engineer of SVT make comments of turning the viper into a gardner snake and not back it up. This guy doesn't get it!! SVT is going after PVO and the Viper.

PVO is so pissed that Ford has thrown a monkey wrench in their plans. After the intro of the new concept Lightning, it has caused upper Management at PVO to re-think their strategy and delay the production of the truck. PVO now realizes they do not have the luxury of time, first anticipated and blows their bragging rights for new king of the hill. (My own inside information).

Where is this paper boys GT information? If his contacts are so good, he should have something on the car. What a tool!!

This crap is all he could think up to meet his deadline!! Funny how guys like him work. Keep guessing "paper boy."

Guys that is the detroit news

I know some of you are not from michigan, but the detroit news and the automotive company are insanely tight.

I wouldn't discredit it just because no one else has not reported it also.

deeper problems

I think the lesson in the article is not in his specific predictions. The greater problem is that Ford is in financial trouble. 'Product Guys' would say that the way out is to build better and more attractive products. However, GM and Chrysler are picking up the ball in this area. Ford's answer has been to let the accountants run the business and paper over their cost-cutting with marketing.
The real danger is that cost-cutting today will jeopardize the future platforms on which SVT builds. At great as the SVT group is at tweaking ford products, they have to have a platform on which to build. The more that can be borrowed from an existing parts bin, the lower the cost.

Even if Ford guts the mustang and F150 platforms of technology to make them cheaper, SVT can still do its job. But the additional fabrication and engineering will add to the final price. Look at all the V10 Ram posts where L owners are bashing the price of the new PVO ram. What happens when to stay competitive speed-wise the next cobra winds up priced north of $55K? Or the lightning over $45?

Ha ha ha....ahhh the good ol' detroit news. When they aren't bashing the Big 3's cars in road tests, they are busy making up rumors and publishing them as fact.

Cool

I know that one of his statements is 100% not true.

Don't put very much credability to this "story".

If I had a nickel for every time a rumor was posted that SVT was going away, I could pay cash for a Gen3!!!
