It's all opinion. Depending on the tpye of driveing you do (city vs highway), 4.10 could be good for you. If it's all city than yeah. But if it's alot of highway miles, then you may want to consider the 3.73's.

Thought im not sure what gears Ford puts in the '03 HD's.

Then it's not really worth it unless you want to do alot of drag raceing.

Both. The shear torque of the L motor will still be there down low, but it will bring in the mid powerband sooner. But it's all up to you. My self would save the money for gears and spend it on lowering the truck or to put in a nice system. Maybe a hood and bed cover?

Quick side note: This is my 1200th post... Damn... I've been here for a long time.

Gears have absolutely no relavince to how much power the motor takes. Only to affect how that power gets to the ground and when.

Remember, Horse Power is a product of Torque via RPM.

Dont get me wrong the 4.10's will be more fun. But being a daily driver, my self would prefer something with alittle more faness rather then brute power all the time. My vote still goes for doing other mods to the truck.

Then it would seem to me that you are looking to go fast, and with some money to spend at that. Maybe you should look into a project car like a 5.0 Mustang, '03 Cobra, or MKIV Supra and use the HD as a bad *** tow vehical/daily driver.
