4:10's???

where xcan I find 4:10 gears for my 2002 Harley? And is it a good idea for a daily driver?

CHIKIN1 Mar 22, 2003 01:52 AM

Don't do it its not worth it!!! But if you insist then TeamJDM.com!!

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:01 AM

why isn't it worth it?

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 02:26 AM

It's all opinion. Depending on the tpye of driveing you do (city vs highway), 4.10 could be good for you. If it's all city than yeah. But if it's alot of highway miles, then you may want to consider the 3.73's.

Thought im not sure what gears Ford puts in the '03 HD's.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:37 AM

mine comes with 3:73's stock, i do mostly city but occasionaly do some highway driving.

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 02:40 AM

Then it's not really worth it unless you want to do alot of drag raceing.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:42 AM

will i get mostly low end or mid end power?

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 02:45 AM

Both. The shear torque of the L motor will still be there down low, but it will bring in the mid powerband sooner. But it's all up to you. My self would save the money for gears and spend it on lowering the truck or to put in a nice system. Maybe a hood and bed cover?

Quick side note: This is my 1200th post... Damn... I've been here for a long time.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:47 AM

so HP numbers will stay the same? or will the differ?

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 02:48 AM

Gears have absolutely no relavince to how much power the motor takes. Only to affect how that power gets to the ground and when.

Remember, Horse Power is a product of Torque via RPM.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:50 AM

ok...thanks for clearing that up! its a tough call!

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 02:55 AM

Dont get me wrong the 4.10's will be more fun. But being a daily driver, my self would prefer something with alittle more faness rather then brute power all the time. My vote still goes for doing other mods to the truck.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 02:58 AM

I kinda have done all that I can do besides engine internals!

Lightning Boy Mar 22, 2003 03:01 AM

Then it would seem to me that you are looking to go fast, and with some money to spend at that. Maybe you should look into a project car like a 5.0 Mustang, '03 Cobra, or MKIV Supra and use the HD as a bad ass tow vehical/daily driver.

400HPHD Mar 22, 2003 03:04 AM

Maybe!!! we will see.....started a turbo charged Honda Accord but lost intrest real quick!
