The needle doesn't register until the stat opens.

Is it absolutely mission-critical to have a temp reading when the thermostat is closed?

Is that black duct tape on your setup?

Pic of boost gauge tap point.

If I interpret this correctly you are trying to just get an on source when the ignition is in the on position. Those are all over. You can get it from the cig lighter, radio, the dash light cluster etc.

I did mine from the radio.

FYI........you can buy the "Ford radio pullers" at any Pepboys, Autozone etc. They are only like a couple bucks.

tape

yeah, that is black electrical tape wrapped around mine, like i said, i need to get a larger piece of loom instead.

The wire i used was either blue with a red stripe, or blue with a green stripe, i'll double check. Tap intothe lighter light for the lights on the guages.

The simplest is the boost, you can tap in under your dash with a tee. You can tap into the headlight switch and into the fuse box for power. I would use one hook up for your power, ground, and headlight and fuse it. You can then splice into those wires for all your gauges.
Where do you tap into the headlight switch for power for the gauges???
