Plug change tip
Plug change tip
I just did a plug change and discovered something. I always use dielectric (sp?) grease on the coil boots. Tonight I removed the boots from the coils for the first time. I found several plug changes worth of dielectric grease that had turned in to a hard wax like substance. The contact spring was covered in it. That can't be good, so I cleaned them and used a much smaller dose this time. Clean your contact springs and boots.
I've always wondered how the hell are you supposed to know if the spring made it down over the plug or not? I guess they are centered in the hole but its not like you can see if they made it and pushing them in there makes it hard to feel.

Every since installing L/T's and high flow cats I have had a low rpm cold miss. Will see if this helps. I believe the real cause of the miss is cold plugs.

What plugs are you using?

I ran Denso IT-20's for a year. Just installed NGK TR-6's. I needed to replace the old Denso's for a trip to the dyno Saturday. I will be going back to the IT-20's as soon as they come in.
Side note. After running the IT-20's for a year they looked great. The gap had opened up slightly (from .038 to .041) but the color was very consistent on all the plugs. They actually show very little signs of wear.

Oh well, it'll just be more plug changing practice.
