I don't know if this helps but, I just put jl 10w3v2 in my thunderform. Makes a huuuge difference I was planning on that same amp, but $500+ seems a bit steep to me. BTW, I got the subs for $220 apiece at the Specialist. May be a bit pricey, but they do great work.

That would make an excellent sub setup for your truck, except I would have a box custom made out of mdf instead of the Thunderform box. You will get much better sound from an mdf box as it's much more rigid and better built. The Thunderform is ok for a basic system, but you have the makings of an awesome system with the right box. You can get some matching carpet from an upholstery supply store. I di it for my Navigator and it looks excellent. I have the JL Audio 500/1 and I'm running two Eclipse 10" aluminums subs and the set up kicks a$$. Good luck on your setup as I think you will be very pleased with the sound.

im getting te w6 for dirt cheap which is sweet and im using the stock deck for now, i plan on upgrading to a clarion in dash in a few months so im not buying a deck right now, would a jl monoblock 250/1 work or would that not be enough power to the subs? thanks

The 250/1 wouldn't be enough power to run two of them. Look on ebay and you should be able to find a 500/1 for around $350.00. Just make sure you look at sellers that only have a high number of positive feedback.

Ditto. That is a nice combo you're going with. I would recommend a custom mdf box rather than the Thunderform for the W6s and the power you're pushing. Remember to look at the sealed dimensions of the sub and find out what volume they perform best in...

Gene,

What amp are you runnin your W3v2's with? Would the 500/1 be too much for the W3's? Thanks...

I've got the 10W6's in my truck and am very pleased. I would go with getting a custom box made, it would probably be cheaper in the long run. And If you go with just 2 then a custome box would leave you room to build an amp rack. The MTX box does not do that.

JL can take there subs and shove them!!! I've used JL in the past and I was a die hard JL guy until I tried IDQ's and fell in love with them. more bang for the buck by far!!!!

This might be a little extreme, but its LOUD!

will 10w6v2 's fit or are they too deep or need too big of a box ?

looks like the 10w3v2 would be the next step down right?

btw this chart on the jl site is kinda useful

I am having a custom MDF box made with fiberglass covering the whole thing as we speak. I am using 2 PowerBase 12" subs and a JL 500/1 Amp powering them. The JL and the Sony amp I have for the door speakers will be mounted in the middle. The best thing about this whole setup is that I will have full movement of my seats and my stock center console. I will post pics when its compelte. Should be done friday!
