intercooler pump switch

I am going to put a toggle switch on my intercooler pump. Which wire on the pump do i tap into with the switch. I know im putting the switch to a ground. I want to tap into the wire at the pump not at the computer. there is a black and then a white wire going to the pump so i need to know which wire to tap into.

If I remember how I did it

I tapped power fron the distribution thingy on the passenger side, then to a inline fuse, then to a switch and finally tapped into the white wire.

I don't think I grounded it, since I was told it is allready a grounded circuit.

I am not positive about this as it was over a year ago when I did it.

You want to switch the ground out of the PCM to the pump relay. That is easiest. Otherwide you will have to mount a relay and run a control ciruit to a switch and send the pump 12V positive on a 15 amp circuit or so. If you power it at the pump it has to be enough current to run the pump. If you catch it in the dist panel it is control current much less load.

So you can run the IC pump while in the pits with the truck not running to cool down the IC.

Kinda the same purpose behind an electric water pump.......well other than parastic drag.

wiring

i just ran a lead from the solenoid to a fuse, from the fuse to a switch, and from the switch i ran a wire right down to the motor and tapped into the power lead. Felt this was the best way. Any power surge will blow the fuse before frying anything. I used a regular ato setup. mounted the switch on the solenoid cover right below my fan switch.

Damn, I wish you'd have said that before my relays fried and then the fuse blew, could saved me $230 dollars in repairs.
