Nitto extreme

I just put a set of Nitto tires (no drag radials) on my L. They seem to break loose really easy. Is that normal??? I have a 4 lb pulley/chip.FT acc./pinion snubber. Press. is about 28-30. The F1s didn't break loose this easily.

I have about 1k on mine, and they seem to be getting more grip, and of course others have more miles, so this is a start.

Hey Dr.D, I just put a set on mine and they are so easy to spin on the street that it makes me wonder if I did the right thing.
I am running a 6# lower and just installed an Accufab throttle body over the winter. I took it out last week and put about 3-4 miles on it, and everytime I hit second real hard it went sideways and smoked them for about 30 feet.
However, I was so impressed by a fellow Lightning owner on this boards 60 foot time against me last year running this tire, ( I was running 28 x 10 x 16 Hoosiers at 14 pounds at the time), that I went out and bought a set of Nittos. At the track they hook really well.
Besides I want to run the street class this year and need a DOT tire to do so at my track.
I have seen several 1.7's on the Nittos at the strip. I think you will be happy once you hit the track.
By the way, how's the pinion snubber holding up? I am still attempting to make them out of aluminum.

Marc

Well lets look at the facts:

Nitto 555:
Treadware 300
Traction A
Temp A

Eagle F-1 GS:
Treadware 300
Traction AA
Temp A

I like my Nittos better than the goodyear, they seem to hook really well and I like the look better.

The snubber is still on and I have no reason to take it off. There are times ( like from a roll) when it can make the truck feel squirrelly but from a dead stop I like it. As a matter of fact, I don't even change settings. Roads are pretty good around here and the few places that are bad, duh-I just slow down a bit. Good product.
Back on topic, tho', these Nittos seem awful slippery on the street, and as I said, they are NOT DRs. Maybe they need more or less air. I'll find out.
But like SpankDog said, I do like the look compared to the F1s.

bfg makes good dr, bfg is way better than nitto by far. nitto suck for performance says road test done about a year ago (I work for a tire company) bfg comp t/as outperformed nitto in every category. im not sure though if the same applys for dr's though
