why don't you run a spool in the rear end? Wouldn't that make things simpler and less prone to breakage.

Sal,

I would definately throw that Eaton rear diff into the parts bin now, before it grenades at the track.

The Eaton Differential, with carbon fiber discs and all, are total shiit for drag racing. I could point you in the direction of a list of people in the Mustang world who grenaded those on half the power you are making, and it takes out the rest of the accompanying parts with it. Housings, axel ends, and ring gears.

I would not use those rears for anything but a street car, and a light street car at that.

Good luck,
joe

Joe, thanks for the advice. It's already out of the truck. I modified the stock Ford setup and it should hold much better now. The Ford diff has side gears twice the size of the Eaton, and WAY more surface area on it's clutches. I think the Eaton is great for a street/strip type truck, it's just not made to handle the power we make. Just surprised at how much weaker is was than the stocker.

Phillip, I'd love to run a spool, but there's two problems. 1- nobody makes anything for our rear, and 2- even if I had a spool, I'd need a C-clip eliminator kit, and again, there is none for our rear. And putting a 9" in is NOT an option .

Hey Sal, why not look into a Detroit C-Locker for our truck. They make them in just about every setup. Those are strong as shiit, and still streetable(hahaha). I ran one in the GT for over a year, with about 100 passes at 6100rpm launches.
Sold it when I took it out, and it is still running strong for the next guy.
