Design for New Lightning Part

I'm taking an autocad class in school this year, and our latest assignment is to design and create a mechanical object. I would have about 2 months to design and create this part in Autocad, including a 3d of it.

Give me ideas for any L part you want to see designed and even improvements on existing parts.

I was thinking of several things such a brake cooling ducts using the foglight holes, maybe a new interior bling piece, anything at all.

I have the L to make a prototype, and the tools and time to design the part. Plus I get to do it on the schools time and money

So whatever you guys want to see made, let me know!

how about a spacer for between the blower case, and inlet elbow? seems like a good CAD project, easy to do.
another idea would be a license plate cover activated by a switch..

How about a cold-air intake scoop that mounts on the frame and place the scoop opening directly behind the lower grill? I've dragged the bumper cover on enough curbs to know that mounting a scoop under the bumper isn't going to last a week.

Lightbulb Great.

A Functional Ram Air Hood that weighs close to what the stock hood weighs. Oh and it has to be BEAUTIFUL.

thats a cool project you have there.

Lightbulb OOOOO OOOO OOOOOOOOO I got it

Hands down this is a MUST HAVE.
You need to design a Super High Tech Steering Wheel for the Lightnings.
Features will include: Stereo controls
Cruise controls
Air Bag Suspension control
Power Window and Lock controls
Nitrous controls
The Super Intercooler DewHicky control
Stealth Mode Activation
(This Switch allows you to kill all the lights
and still see by a special ultraviolet light
beem that you have to wear secret
glasses to beable to see).
When the
Radar Detector alerts you that a cop is
checking or has caught you doing 140 in a
45mph zone, you can go to Stealth Mode
and get away. Maybe make we could
make Stealth mode invisible to Radar.
-And Last But Not Least-
-The Other Vehicle Control Center-
Now this puppy will allow you to take control of
another vehicle. You can make it turn, change
lanes, speed up, slow down, or whatever. Are
you tired of people cutting you off? Are you
tired of people going 5mph under the speed
limit in the Left lane, blocking you. Take control
and put them where they belong.

This my friend is your project.

here's one that I would buy immediately...

Some sort of a license place bracket that attaches under the front fascia (there are small bolts on the lip under there, but not sure they offer enough support), then turns up 90 degrees and has an attachment for the license plate frame of your choice.

This would free us from having to drill out the license frame holes in the center of the front fascia, and thus we wouldn't ruiin that beautiful front end.

Should be stainless steel, of course.

Clonetek, I was thinking of a scoop that's perhaps 1/2 the size of the ones being used by PSP/JL, etc. It will block part of the intercooler, but I don't think it will be enough to make a difference.

Before I added my billet grill, I modified the stock grill so I could add a scope at the end of the stock grill. All it takes is to grind off the flat portion that blocks off the grill. Look at the pix below and you will see what I mean. The problem is the frame horn blocks a good portion of the opening. A little trimming of the frame should take care of this.

There's plenty of room AT THE RIGHT SPOT to put a scoop behind the grill. My first homemade setup had it and it blocked NOTHING

Right there where you see the bottom radiator "rubber flexible shirt", those little titty thingamagiggers push right back in to the original hole's minus the center two (which actually help hold the scoop in place) .

As for what we need
I think we need a Billet Hood Scoop that attaches to the factory hood THAT WE INSTALL with no painting needed. One step up from Lund and you got yourself a winner. I would even be willing to try out the proto-type to see how it looks on Black. HEHEHEHE

How about a custom floor console for the Lightning with the existing seats.
BTW I have been using Autocad for many years now so if you have questions about the software or need help in a particular area, feel free to email me.
Good Luck with your project.

00BlackLightning, I didn't think of trimming the frame for more clearance! DOH! The blanked area was my first choice to mount an intake scoop, but it would have to make a really sharp turn because of the frame behind it. I'll check that out again. Thanks!

Rob_02Lightning, thanks for the tip, but I already planned on mounting a pair of driving light behind the upper grill.

Thanks again for the inputs!

Billet side steps. Carbon fiber would work in a pinch.
