Pay Pal

Kind of off topic, but...
Has anyone ordered anything using pay pal? For some reason I don't trust it, when I'm on someone's web page, and it asks me to enter my Pay Pal password right there on the page. The address says paypal . com / yada yada but still... I'm a little skeptical. Anyone experience anything bad? Is it safe?

Its very safe. I remember when PayPal first came out... they had a deal where you referred people, and got points... I setup a program and it referred a million email's a day, and they didn't verify those email's, so I got a ton of points. With those points you could order cool items... I got some nice goodies. But that was about 3 years ago. Now they are VERY safe! Just make sure your address bar says paypal.com. I use PayPal to pay for pretty much everything I buy on the I-Net, and I buy something just about every day!

Paypal is the only way I like to transfer money over the net. I only bid on Ebay auctions that allow Paypal.

Just dont buy used Lightning parts from anyone that you dont personally know, or from someone trying to get out of debt.

People have been seriously burned before.

I'm not sure why used Lighning parts are different than buying anything else on the net. All of my purchases of various items have been from people I don't know personally. Anytime you do business on the net, their is always an inherent risk. I have had good success using Paypal and limit my purchases to people that can give me good references or have a very positive feedback rating on ebay. The nice thing about buying items through paypal, is that it generates an invoice that can be used for insurance records in case of theft or damage to your vehicle.

Make sure when you send money the http part of the address has an (S) in it. The (S) is for secure. They are now owned by eBay and I have never had any problems in three years.

That doesn't and has never sat well with me.

I use paypal alot, but I will only use paypal from paypal's website. If someone has something like you described, I will not trust it.

So far I've had no problem doing that. The only exception I will make is Ebay's pay now feature with it.

Ive been using it since 1999 and have xfered over $15,000 from computer parts, car parts and consulting. Works well and its secure. Just be careful like people have pointed out about shady characters youre purchasing from.

IF you are concerned about using paypal thru someone else's website, just get their email address to send payment to, and go directly to Paypal's website.......like that you don't have to worry about the intermediary website.

I have been using it for a few years now with NO problems, sending and receiving money both.

good luck,
jc

on a side note, someone told me last week of an e-bay scam to watch out for. If you get and e-mail that looks like its from e-bay, but wants you to "confirm" or "reset" your password and user name trash it. The e-mails are apparantly very convincing looking but are a total scam. The sender will take you info, change it so you cant access your own account, then place all sorts of high priced auctions on it that are fake as well. E-bay will never ask for your password or user name, they already have that info in their records. Just watch out, would hate to see someone here be taken by that bs

Please list the website URL and we'll tell you if it safe or not.

Generally after you "Add to Cart" it will take you a secured PayPal page with a URL like this:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr

If it says that then you are totally safe. Also, if you did not realize, the "s" in "https" means "secure", and it is totally secure.

If it's not doing that then I would not trust it at all! But it sounds like you're totally fine since you said the address is a PayPal address.
