In my case it was cheaper to buy the clutchpacks ect and have a freind of mine with 25 years experience rebuild the tranny, but if you don't have a connection, chances are it wiil cost more then the cost of a monster box to pay for a rebuild and buy Greggs parts.

The monster box was not available when i did my tranny, just most of the parts.

It doesn't make any difference. The soft parts all get replaced, if the hard parts show any wear they get replaced, most of them hardly ever do. The advantage of sending me yours is that I'll build it right away, if you wait for a core exchange, I have about a 4-5 week wait most of the time.

Joe has a special gift for destroying transmissions. His intermediate clutch was more or less welded together, wonder he had any second gear at all.

Suavy, you're no Joe Messina (sic?) but you made the FT top five for gutted heap of smoldering metal transmissions. The snap ring on the OD engage side of your OD cylinder let go, so you either had no 4th gear or had a drag on the disengage from 4th (in theory it'll engage without the snap ring, I'm still pondering that one) and you became one of the very few people I've seen with a smoked OD clutch. You intermediate clutch was "welded" almost exactly like RTKilla's was and you had some severe burn in the direct clutch, I saved you some of the scrap metal. The box is being dyno'd at noon today and it'll be ready Saturday or Sunday. I may leave town for the weekend, but if you want to come get it Saturday, I'll make some arrangement or stay home.

Let me know,

G

Suavy,

Don't come to get it tomorrow, I didn't make it to the Dyno shop in time and they didn't leave it out (they usually do) for me to pick up. I don't have it and can't get it till Monday. Give me a call we'll make arranegments to get it up to you.

Thats cool G. the weather will not permit me to go there this weekend any ways. We got about 6 in. of snow today.
G, I put one of those line mod valves in my tranny it hit hard for a while but I was noticing some slipping and hesitation latley. Do you think this was related?

Well, much as I'd love to say so, not really. I think the snap ring let go from just too much torque and the rest flowed from that. The intermediates are frm running a chip, it's more or less normal, but not always that bad. I'm so glad you got the message, I'd have been really sorry if you drove down here for nothing.

We'll get it figured out,

G
