Angry 1994 Ford Lightning, cruise, horn, fog light problems

I have a 1994 Ford Lightning. The cruise control, horn and fog lights all went out at the same time. The fuses and relays are ok. what would be causing this? any one that could help in this matter would be appreciated. Thank You

I had my cruise stop working on my 95 F150. I looked at the fuses and they weren't the problem. So I took it to Ford. They called me back later and said that my clock spring broke. Evidently, my horn and my airbag weren't working as well. All three items are controlled by the clock spring. I hadn't tried the horn recently so I didn't know it wasn't working. The airbag thing just scared me to know it would not have worked. Ford told me it was a "see as they go" type job and I would have to pay them buy the hour. They couldn't estimate the job for me. So every hour the lady would call ask for me to authorize another hour. Well, $700 later they fixed it.

If yours has an airbag I would think twice before opening the steering wheel.

Broken clock springs are very common on all '94 models. The same thing happened to my '94. It does cost around $100 and is very easy to install yourself. Don't worry about the airbag, it's very easy to remove. Just remove the 4 screws on the rear corners of the center square part of the steering wheel (I think they are torx) and pull it out. Unplug the airbag connector and sit it aside. You will have to remove a couple of other parts in the wheel itself to get to the spring, but the wheel does not have to come off.

Good luck!
