Want the best security system for my Lightning

Hey, guys. I've been doing search after search to no avail. I would like the get the best security system/alarm for my Lightning and wanted to know what you guys recommend. I am not interested in a remote starter, but would like multiple sensor location options (driver door, passenger door, hood, Snuglid, etc.), tilt sensor, two-stage shock sensor, and anything else that makes it effective. I would rather not have another key fob to worry with, but I realize there may be no other option unless I go with the Ford System #4.

I hear the Ford factory alarm is engineered specifically for Ford vehicles, but that could be nothing more than a sales gimmick. I want to be sure that the system doesn't screw up my electrical system. I realize that I will probably get what I pay for, and I have to get good installation.

I don't mind saving the dough for the right system, but I would like some recommendations. First, what system do you guys recommend besides Smith and Wesson; I already got that part covered. Second, who is the best installer in the DFW area?

I've always heard the CLIFFORD is the best ... but then I
would be a little biased ... <grin>

I think all teh after markets w/ remote start bypass the
PATS system somehow, wonder if the FORD one does?

any aftermarket alarm can take the place of the current ford fob, (e.g. it will open the locks on its own) and pretty much any alarm can be configured to accept thoes components, two things i like on my alarm is a pager system, i dont have a siren but if the doors open or the shock sensor trips or a pressure sensor trips the pager goes off by me and the intruder is none the wiser, also if it is stolen and driven away i have a module that can accept command over the phone that will disable the motor, lock doors and sound horn, it will also open doors, open truck, if we had trucks, start if u have auto start, and etc....

Get one of the DEI alarms (Clifford, Viper, Python, etc..) and you will be totally satisfied.

I've been reading up on Clifford

Looks interesting. What's the danger that this "non-Ford" system will completely crap out my electric system? Guess I'm just paranoid about that. Pay for good installation, yes. However, my main concern is compatability and quality.

I have LoJack One time fee of $500 and thats it. Once u see no L call up they turn your chip on and see where your truck is. Hopefully I never have to use it but its pretty cool how it works.

Yeah, with all the research I've completed so far, Clifford is at the top of the opinion list. Viper is up there, too. Now I get down to the nitty gritty... Which one has the option of working with the keypad? I know the Ford alarm will.

Not to chit on your parade or anything but... Lojack cannot tell where your vehicle is. Only the cops can find the approx location then hone in on it.

actually i just use the ford for door lock and unlock and all my sensors are tied right to the pager system, there is no alarm system (e.g. viper or clifford etc) just an alpine pager with positive and negative triggers that are tied to door switch, shock, and pressure sensor..

the command module i have uses an service provider to send the pages to the truck, they just came out with a gps service, almost like lojack but u can log onto the internet and get a map location where your truck is, its speed, distance traveled, etc. i just have a basic module that just locks, unlocks, starts and opens trunk, but this does that plus gps capabilities...i think the moduls costs 500-600 and 30 a year service charge...

i wanted more than just protection against the theft of the truck itself and thats why i chose radar. imo the PATS system is good enough along with a standard starter cut that most security systems offered.

i wanted protection against acts of jealousy etc...like vandalism. when i first got my truck i had someone go under my toneau and steal a 10 dollar shammy

no damage or vandalization to the truck...but i was paranoid. i tried fabbing a closed circuit rotating camera but i was afraid it would drain the battery (rotating the camera itself, etc)

my alpine w/ proximity radar seems to do the job..light chirping if people hang around close and full alarm if there is any impact (even light impact)
