From: Colorado,
Chip Help, what have I got?

Just bought my L off a lot and it has a Superchip with flip switch.

One feels stock and the other feels performance. It shifts harder and the redline went up from 5,200 to 5,800

Is there anyway to find out what the program is or track down the tunner who programed it?

I don't want to just send it off for a reburn until I decide what, if any mods I want to do or what I have.

It has a blue metal cover that says Superchip, there is a sticker on the cover that says CARB EO-330-4
it has a 2 position switch.

Can you tell me anything from these numbers?

Just my two cents worth, but I think I would stay away from that 5,800 shift point until you figure out what you have.

From: Colorado,
I agree!
That is one of the things that brought me here. I respect all of your experience.

I am past the 1/2 century mark in my life and am running out of time to make all my own mistakes. I depend heavily on the mistakes of others

It is also entertaining to observe people making some of the mistakes I made in the past and see how they deal with them.

Wow, somebody left mods on a trade in and the mechanics didn't rip them off JDM puts his sticker on the bottom side of the chip where you haveto remove it to read his file codes. It sounds like stock & performance. I think 5800 is kind of high considering the stock dyno curves. Good luck with your new used truck hope it isn't a problem in the future

Isnt the RPM guage somewhat inaccurate? What is the way to verify it using the odometer? Anyone know that little trick? Thanks.

i bet that 5200 is the street side and the 5800 is race side. however i would still stay away from that 5800

i would definitely find out more about the chip...AFs, octane, etc.

I've seen (and read here) of trucks that are sold off lots with aftermarket parts in place. If they are trade-ins with existing warranty most dealers will pull things like chips, but what the heck, they won't honor the warranty anyway once they see it's been chipped.................and earlier models such as the 99's and 2000's that go through the auctions can (and do) have serious mods left intact. But I would be really apprehensive of a chip with a 5,800 shift point and no other data.

By the way, I'm also on the back side of the mid-century mark so I fully understand the "no time for mistakes" comment...............

As senior members, it's out duty to remind the younger guys of the old story of the two bulls standing on the hill looking down on the field of really cute cows. The younger bull tells the older, more mature bull that they should run down the hill and f$#k one the cute cows. The older, more experienced bull replies, telling the younger bull that he would prefer to walk down and f#$k them all........................Old story, but it makes a good point.
