Okay, Okay....It's really here this time!!!

As you may remember, I decided to tell the previous dealer to suck eggs due to some problems with the 2003 Red L they delivered to me last week. Because of this, some were lightningquick to tell me that I wasn't die hard enough to be a real Lightning fan. I disagree. I was just waiting for the right truck. Why? Because this time around, I had that option. SVT dealers around here are just sloppin' over with Lightnings.

Well, guys, I found my 2003 Red L and got a much better deal to boot. I keep going down to my garage just to stare at the thing, and my girlfriend won't stop telling me how beautiful it is. I got the grin I lost after selling my 2001 Silver L...you know, the grin you get when you press the loud pedal.

So from one die-hard fan to a whole slew of others....I'm back and I'm stoked.

Come on now, won't ya welcome a prodigal brother?

cyntaxx,

Thanks for the welcome, man. Yep, I was holding out for an 8-thread head. Mine was made in January....the head, I mean.

Can't blame you for holding out! Anyone who buys an 03 with the old head without some concessions, like free extended warranty, is nuts IMO.

Well, for some reason it was hard to get a sales guy to even talk to me after they caught me with a flashlight under the truck. I guess they were intimidated by my huge pectoral....um....MAG-LITE

Welcome back and Congrats.

And they say this board has lost it touch. He knew to check for the threads. I guess he heard about the problem at the local 7/11.

I actually did the deal with Payton-Wright in Grapevine. About two years ago, someone here said they would never use Payton-Wright again because of a bad experience, so I wasn't really expecting to get anywhere with them. It was, surprisingly, the best truck buying experience I've had. They met my price exactly, although begrudgingly, and the finance guy even offered me a discount I didn't know about, so the ESP I bought was cheaper than any Internet or dealer price I could find.

My truck was built on the second day of production. SVT told me it was within the firt 100 made.

It has the extra threads. I don't think any 03 L was made using the 4 thread heads. It does not make sense that they would use the new style heads for the first 100 made and then switch back to the old style heads.

And congrats on your new truck Shazbot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Rocks that does make sense. I'm trying to find out what I can on the 04 or 05 Lightning. I will just keep my 02 and buy me an 04 or 05 which ever it is they decide to release it.

Heh, lightningquick may have been just trying to help you out.

If anyone remembers the early days, i.e. 1999, and 2000, all of them were spoken for pretty much before the 1st one left the factory.

I got lucky and so did some of the 2000 people. I remember some people SELLING their Lightning USED for more than they bought it! I think one guy even sold it back to the dealer for the same price (if not damn close) that he paid for it several months after he got it (but before the 2000 Lightnings came out).

Just to let you know, it was very hard for many to get one new at one time.

Yeah, Tundra.

Boy, do I remember those days. The first one I ordered took months to come in. While I was waiting, I drooled over the very few I got the chance to see. So, I know exactly where lightningquick was coming from. No worries.

The story's a bit different now, but I'm drooling no less over the one in my garage. These are the greatest trucks, and I'm glad to be back amongst.

Is the consensus that ALL 03's are 8-thread heads?

I have one made 12-20 I'm buying and don't want the 4-thread heads for sure.

Thanks
