Just check out Paul from Texas

he ran 11.9's last season with the stock heads and cams. With ported heads, bigger valves and Crower cams he just ran a 11.3

That shows the cams really work.

Tim,
Not sure if you didn't get a chance to call me back or if I missed your call. Either way I'll call you tomorrow (Wednesday) to get the order in on the cams.

Do you think a cam will be worth it for some who as only done the chip, filter, pulley, T/B, elec. fan, full exhaust, etc. without a built motor or aftermarket blower?

Don, you are saying the cams and heads got him 6 tenths. So there were no other changes?? Was it at the same track and same weather?

No I am not saying that the heads and cams gave him all of the 6 tenths, but they were a big factor. I think it the last peice of the puzzle to get hose times. Also I think the weather was pritty good, but it was still Texas after all.

Don,

Our C&C ported heads and Crower Cams to our spec on the dyno gave Paul 68 HP and 107 FT. LB. Torque.
Paul's dyno with us was 508 at rear wheels HP and 658 Ft. Lb. torque.

You will be getting the identical cams with a slightly different center line for a smoother idle.

The weather in Texas on his 11.30 run was 70 degrees with
79 % hummidity.

With a race tune I expect him to run 11.10's on stock blower.

This is the fourth truck we have done in the last month that have been running these times.

To date, my truck still has the stock cams in it.

The more performance mods you have, the more you will benefit from improved cams. It is ridiculous to think the stock Ford grind can't be improved upon. The torque and horsepower output of blown motors are very much impacted by the cam specs. Before the year is finished, I would bet that all the quickest trucks will be running aftermarket camshafts.

After examining the specs, (the crower site has a typo according to them). Stock cam is 246/250 (they list it as 250/246) with a 114 lobe center. The stage 2 68202 is 262/262. That's quite a bit more duration which means a chance to blow through boost because of more overlap. What would be the effect of going 116 LC to increase the time at center to trap more boost? Would it offset the increased overlap enough?

JDM has both 114 and 116 LC and I'd love to know the dyno results of both units...

Jim, please feel free to tell us what grind you used on Gamino's truck -- was it the 68202 with a 116LC. Was it a custom grind? If so, what was it?

I'd seriously consider this mod, but I want to know the specs of it going in as well as some dyno numbers to know what's going on.

I assume this mod will have a fairly serious effect on gas mileage, but I don't think most with this engine really care about that particular issue...

Ken

Excellent info Jim

Our C&C ported heads and Crower Cams to our spec on the dyno gave Paul 68 HP and 107 FT. LB. Torque.
Does this mean that your dyno is up and running and that you can do comparitive dyno's on all the cam grinds that you will be using in different trucks? That sure would help some of us as customers decide which grinds suit our needs. Or are you going to keep the grind #'s secret so nobody can copy your spec grind?

This is the fourth truck we have done in the last month that have been running these times.
Thats just great, now how is that 5th truck coming along?
