I did not insinuate that you sold "piece of *****" cars. I merely stated that your attitude would not be very constructive if you were trying to "make a deal."

I sell 97-99 economy cars and do VERY well doing it.As honest as you can be in this business,I am.And you insinuating,i sell overpriced *****boxes is ignorant and to take it a step further,You are acting like an a$$hole because you dont agree with me.
I still don't agree with you. And more importantly, I never liked the way you carried yourself by doing nothing but yelling and making inflammatory remarks. This was done long before I stepped in when you were raising a fuss over the original post.

All Ive stated is my opinion along with FACTs believe them or not.I have yet to make personal attacks back at you till now.You have your information ,Now go screw your self.Better yet,let me screw you on a car
Wow, very mature. Like someone said before, used car salesmen EARN the bad rep given to them. You are no different.

I don't see why you even stepped into this thread to begin with. You sell used 97-99 economy cars. We were talking about the trade-in value of Lightnings. Shouldn't you be whining over on the Ford Fiesta forums or something?

What does your infinite knowledge of Lightnings have to do with anything? You were trying to represent dealerships, not a knowledgeable Lightning owner. And as for your rep, a LOT of people were stating that used car dealers are slime. I have yet to see a single person who made a similar remark retract their statements after meeting you.

One night while I was surfing the internet I came across CarsDirect.com and I followed the directions and requested the exact truck that I was looking for. Within one hour I received an e-mail from CarDirect.com with the following numbers: MSRP $37,065, Invoice $32,400, Your Price $29,500. I know what you're thinking - I didn't believe it either. About an hour after the e-mail I was contacted by CarsDirect.com who stated that he will do a search and locate the vehicle. He contacted me a day later and stated that he could not find my particular model in the tri-state area ( I already knew this) but I could contact Milham Ford in Easton PA and they could order it.
Congrats on being a smart buyer. This is what I mean by doing your homework. How can a dealer sell you a car for $900 under invoice and still make a profit? Easy. Thanks to things called holdbacks, or dealer incentives, the dealer frequently pays less than "invoice", particularly on slower moving models. And generally only the dealer and maybe the sales manager know about holdbacks, even the salesmen don't have a clue. And the dealer is usually happy to make you a good deal on a car that you order since, unlike the cars he stocks, he does not have to "floor plan" (buy) your new car, so he's probably making $600 just for writing up the order, minus his cost for dealer prep. He's not gonna get rich on those kinds of deals, but hey, he realizes he's pocketing $500 from someone who does not live in his area and would otherwise not buy anything from him.

Some good info among the trash

Whoever said ACV (Actual Cash Value) is the term to remember n as trade. That is what Used Car manager gives sales manager as REAL trade-in value. ACV is considerable less than trade in/wholesale. Remember, most dealers have a considerable overhead in facility, equipment, and payroll to be met every month regardless of business conditions. Car dealers operate on a DCA or Dollar Cost/Margin averaging. In this way the dealers try to sell either new or used for as much as they can get away with. Their high profit sales are averaged in with mid-profit( some discount) and "invoice" deals. They teach how to profile various customer personality types to make most profitable deals. If they sell you on xplan, they make it up on someone else! BTW I went to this "school" and was in business for a short time until I couldn't handle dishonesty. When giving ACV on a trade, they usually make money even when sending it to auction after 30 days. NEVER let a dealer tell you it will cost more to order! Dealers have to take so many per month "on allocation". An ordered vehicle counts as part of allocation, but don't have to floor plan or spend advertising allowance from manufacturer, plus they make their "holdback", plus any hidden incentives mentioned earlier. If you can possibly sell your vehicle yourself for over wholesale, you're way ahead of the game;. Then order new, if possible. If not start in middle of month to locate one you want, then recheck availability last 2 days of month. Know what their cost is. Consumer Reports price service is most accurate--regardless of what you might think! Go in with financing pre-approved and price you're willing to pay. Let them know you're ready to buy, stick to your guns and you can get the deal!

My father-in-law was a salesman at Rochester Ford in New Hampshire. He told me some stories that would make you start riding a bicycle. This one's my favorite:
Man drives up in a late model car and is looking at a new one. It had a lot of options and carried a pretty hefty sticker. He starts signing papers, no mention of money, then strokes a check for MSRP plus taxes and fees.
Then the good part, the man starts out of the office stops, says "oops, almost forgot" and hands my F-I-L the keys to his late model car that was worth around $8,000.
Without missing a beat, my F-I-L says, "We'll, get those tags switched over for you Sir and you can be on your way."
No mention been made of a trade.

It was a car salesman's ultimate wet dream.
