Need some help people.Looks like i will have to get rid of the Lightning and i was wondering what other owners on this board have gotten for trade in on their Lightnings. Sorry but i have to downsize in power and go to a 4x4, but it will be a Ford.

That sucks you have to trade her in .
I never traded mine in, and I don't plan to for a long long time, but you may want to try here:

Under the Used Car section "What is your car worth?"

You will be much better off tryign to sell it outright. You'll get more money, but you will have to sit on it longer. The dealer is going to rip you though, no doubt about that.

Well, when I sold mine, I got 24k for it from the Caddy dealership (don't ask).....of course the price of their car was more than it should have been....so all things being equal I would guess I got 22k for it. (A red 2000 with low miles and all mods taken off).

Hey Jim, just sell some of that stock you bought over the years and then you can keep the L, and buy a 4 x 4. Brad would appreciate your business.
If you sell the L, does KILLER go along with it?

trade in value for my '99 with 40,000 was $13,500. i laughed, then walked out the door, laughed some more, and then handed the keys to it's new owner as the forked over $18,200.

Just my feelings...

There reason our limited edition trucks aren't worth what we feel that are worth at trade-in or in a private party sale is because we, the people who own Lightning sell them cheep.

The resale value would be higher if five years ago people who traded-in or sold there 99's to get a 00 then a 01 etc. would have demanded the price they were worth we wouldn't be getting robbed right now when we go to sell.

I don't know what everybody elses situation is but I'm not taking it in the a** with no lube from a dealer or anyone else. Hopefully the value of the Gen 2 will go up when people who want a L figure out that they can't afford a new Gen 3.
So when the Gen 3 comes out and you want it don't give your current Lightning away just to get it.

To all those potential Lightning buyers, if you can't afford the most likely $40,000 + price tag of a Gen 3 you better get a 03 as soon as you can because when I decide to sell my mint 02 I'm not giving it away.

Off my soap box.
