Unless whomever all you people trade your lightnings to,showed you the invoice on what you were buying,You have No clue what they really gave you for a trade and thats a fact jack.there are real #s and then there are the ones whick MOST dealers show you to make the deal look good to the buyer.I will give anybody on here $33k for their lightning on trade for one of my vehicles. One condition,Dont ask how much you are REALLY paying for my car............

Ponyexpress,No flame but wake up from La La land

In the used car world, ther a thing called " ACV" Actual Cash Value. This does not change very much from dealer to dealer,You would think it does and thats exactly what they want you to think.

Holy crap, Batman.......I have to agree with Ray on this one, "actual cash value" drives the real world of used vehicles.

Our vehicle's value is driven not by what you will hold out for, but what others are actually willing to pay. Each year that passes lowers the amount others will pay both through the increased number of units to pick from, and the fact fewer people want them.

This is a "nick market" with only so many buyers to reach. They don't produe in low numbers to make them collectible, they make them in low numbers due to the fact there is a very narrow market to sell to.

I don't beleive I'm in La La land at all. I understand how dealerships work. I guess you missed my point all together, the "ACV" Actual Value of these trucks would be higher if people who have them wouldn't sell them at such a low price. Either back to a dealer or by private sale.

I agree to a point but when there are new ones going for 4% and used ones going for 7%.....do the math....

I agree with you that the market is driven by what people will pay. The "nich market" grows as the people who can afford these trucks grows. If someone came into the "nich" for one of these trucks and there were many to choose from and the prices varied little than it wold just be a matter of what color and how far that someone wants to go to get that color. Thats simplifing it but I hope you get what I mean.

You guys have opinions and we are all welcome to them. I just have the opinion that we could control the value of these trucks.

Unless you have a monopoly, you won't control the value simply by holding out for a higher price. That's because perceived value by the seller isn't as much a consideration in a supply and demand equation than perceived value by the buyer when supply is high and demand is low.

It's like saying if everyone in the world embraced peace, then we would have peace on earth. Yes, we would, but no we won't.

The only way we are going to be able to control the cost on
these trucks is if ford stops making them.
