I still think your boost guages are not correct. If you could get 6lbs out of a 4lber, why spend the extra money for a 6??????

You shure you don't have a 2lb upper???
It's been a long day...

I have the same setup as mrinaldi...a 4# lower and a 1# upper

8 + 4 +1 = 16
I wish I had your problem with math!

Because of the altitude here, my math:

8 + 5 + 1.5 = 12

That's with an Autometer gauge. The dash gauge is barely off the scale.

Different diameter combinations make for different ratios / blower speed. And you have to factor in the outside atmoshpere psi.

It's NOT a 1 to 1 increase just because you bought a pulley that says xpsi on the package.

so since there is such a big difference (3 lbs.) did you have your chip tuned for a 6#er instead of a 4?

It's funny that you ask that. When I was down at JDM picking up my long tubes, I had asked them if I needed a reburn (for the 1# and the long tubes) and they said no. I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling about it since I think I have been running the same program since before I had the 4# pulley on. Now whether they burned it knowing that I would be getting the 4#, I don't know. It seamed like I was playing with fire, but I listened for pinging, it was making good power, and the A/F at the dyno was right on where it should be with the 4+1 setup. The Denso IT22's with a smaller gap help too.

I haven't been around to get back to the dyno with the longtubes yet.

8,000 miles with a 6lber. Only problem has been a broken driveshaft. Seriously though, with the right tune you will be fine. The tune is where it is at whether you are running stock boost or 16lbs. -Mat-

4lb Lower and a 2-3lb Upper 3 seasons per yr,
the upper does come off for the Winter Months.
Like everyone says, It's all about the right tune, the right gas, and the right plugs.

As for amount of boost, stock mine was a good 9, then when I added a 12" hi-flow filter I got another 2 to 3, then the 4lb lower and the 2/3 upper and

Add some ice cold air and you can watch the factory guage go around about 250 degrees right into the gas gauge.
GOD I LOVE BOOST

I was soooooooooo tempted to take off when I saw how nice it was. NO ZEX YET, but I promise if the rain stops Sunday, I'm ON IT

The Lightning is all washed and looking good today, but I have my Chip out for Re-Burn "NITROUS PROGRAM BABY" and although I have a Spare in it, I decided to take the winter beater to work and save the shine another day so I didn't get to enjoy the L today

I'll tell you one thing, after driving a free 1989 VW 4cyl Fox, and then getting back in my Baby, DAM CAN YOU FEEL THE POWER

No flame taken....With my current setup, and this cold dense air, I know I am making that much boost...Basically, before I installed either pulley, between the Accufab throttle body and the cold air intake, the blower was developing 10# of boost....Now with 4+1, there is your 15, add the cold dense air and you have your 16...My dyno numbers and mph in the quarter will attest to that...415RWHP, 535RWTQ STD, and 425/553 Actual the day it was done...Remember that I still am running the stock exhaust so I may be seeing a little more boost because of the backpressure..So there you have it..

I'd like to know how your experience has been with that. Would you reccomend it to others?

TIA.
You don't need the added heat of the 6lber on top of that hot south florida weather, plus your truck is slow enough already

-Patrick

**edit** damn I didn't notice how old this post was, my bad, but your truck is still slow hahahahah, peace.

DAMN!!!! THIS THREAD IS OLD!

It's actually kind of funny to see it since I decided to stick to the warranty safe catback/filterkit. Reminds me of my fearless days. That was before I saw the pics of KB Zilla's blown motor.
