Cure for belt slip problem?
Cure for belt slip problem?
A local performance shop which does a lot of work on Mustangs says the new supercharged Cobras are going to bigger idler pulleys to eliminate slip. The owner says the bigger idlers increase "wrap" on the upper, supercharger, pulley and BINGO, no more slip.
Has anyone done this to a L? Would we use the same idlers as the Cobra?

Maybe with a works blower it can handle the extra tension, we'll see.
We cured that problem by having every one of our upper pulleys sand blasted in the belt area for better grip.
Even with the 2.77" pulley we are not seeing slippage on the Lightnings. The Cobras spin a lot faster and we are having an oversized idler pulley made for that.
