I picked up my 03 L last month and I didn't have the dealer prep it so all the stickers etc. were still on it. On the right side of the rear bumper the number "592" was written in white grease pencil and apparently it arrived at the dealer that way. I was wondering if anyone else has found anything like this on their L when they picked it up and if so, did it turn out to be your build number?? Have a good day...eh.
