I hear anti-seizing doesn't do much with our aluminum heads. The most secure way just short of getting the new 8-thread head is helicoiling. Check out my thread on it...

No anti-seize ... I just use a squirt of WD40 to lube 'em up a tad ...
Makes 'em thread a bit easier methinks ...

I've used Anti seize Both times I've changed mine, now I have 9k on it and race it often and never had a problem.

To tell you the truth next time I think I'm gonna go against what everyone says and use a Mild Loc-Tite.
I mean why not, they say not to use Anti-Seize and I do with no problems.

I used Lubro-Moly(German), copper-based, anti-seize 15,000 miles ago and, as Denso says, finger-tight plus 1/16th of a turn more. No loosening problems so far.

Loc-tite won't matter with the amount of heat our heads make will it??

I just use a squirt of WD40 to lube 'em up a tad ...

Makes 'em unthread a bit easier me thinks.

how about on a 4.6? how tight should the plugs be? it seems that hand tight plus 1/16 is a bit loose

Finger tight plus 1/16 of a turn put all my plugs right on 14lb/ft... which oddly enough is what ngk recommends as well as many other plug vendors for alu head plug torque.

I also used a copper-based anti-seize.

I was told 35LB FT. I think what NGK says(17LB FT) is a little on the light side.

On aluminum heads

in the words of Chris Tucker:

HELLLLLLL NO!!!!!

The object is snug the plugs in so they don't get loose and back out, not strip the 4 threads.
