Thumbs up UPDATE On Burning Oil Smell - And a Question

Well I figured out where the oil is coming from... and it's not the rear of the passenger side head (thank goodness!)

The oil appears to be coming from the driver's side cam cover, second or third bolt from the front. There is a noticable amount of oil around the bolt and the gasket appears to be saturated under the bolt.

In my opinion it would be a waste of my time and the dealer's time to get them to address this as warranty work, so my question is what is the torque specifications on these bolts? (I have not yet purchased a manual)

Hopefully I will find a very loose bolt and tightening will solve the problem. We will see!

Thanks guys!
Sammy

Good news/find Sammy. I have a Haynes manual at home. If you havn't got an answer today, I'll post the torque specs tonight.

Btw, you could drop by an Advance Auto, etc. and just look at the manual

Or heavens forbid, stop by the library.
But in the mean time, just put a socket on the bolts and see if any are loose

I had the same thing... took it in and they said it needed a new head... warranty work though... at least I won't have to worry about the plugs blowing out on the drivers side.

They replaced your entire head for a leaky cam cover? WOW!

Who am I to complain at the Frod gods??? I saw the leak while changing the oil and from what I could tell... it was the valve cover... haven'ty picked it up yet but i will later this week...

Just hope they didn't scratch it up or anything... Don't have a scratch on it and you could eat off the engine...

I know what you mean, mine is the same way. Anywho, let us know how it turns out and what they actually did.

Good luck!
