I couldn't agree more.......the cams are dead at that speed and so is the supercharger.
If it shifted at 5000 even it would probably go faster......I might have to try that.
Dale

That sound like words of wisdom!!!

Peace, Suavy

Johnny

I think what he ment to say is, the stock supercharger is dead at 5000. Skip

I did mean cams but maybe what we are seeing on the dyno graphs are dead valve springs.....it was an assumption on my part that since the stock intake lobe only has around 185 degrees of timing at .050 lift that the cams were at fault.

And Johnny if it is true that you are running stock cams to get that 10.5 then you get a big

With an aftermarket supercharger, it will not fall off near as bad as it did when it was stock. 5600 is not a lot of rpm for an ohc motor, even with limited valve timing. You are right about the springs, dead springs can really make a motor flat on the top end. Skip

Actually the only reason I'm keeping the rpm's lower(5300 versus 5600)is to help reliability until I'm able to get the bottom end rebuilt. The more rpm's you turn the more stress you put your motor under, any motor for the fact. If you have seen a stock 5.4 rod you will understand how weak they are,and if you look at the piston you will understand why we get piston slap on warm up. They have a very short skirt.

Anyway once I have a built bottom end to add with my Kenne Bell I'll take it to a dyno and see how many rpm's I'll need to turn

Thanks Mike
