Injector/lean ?

If you don't already know, I am replacing my head gaskets. Picked up the "NEW" updated gaskets, they were expensive. Anyway, cleaned off the tops of the pistons to get ready for the install and found something that I do not like. All the pistons look great (black with no markings) except #7. #7 was very light brown with almost white on the outside corner. Also it has some good dings in it. Also note, the cremac was broken (but all was there) on the plug and the head had a few dings in it also. The machine shop told me it looked like this cyl was getting very hot.

I think my injector may be bad, how do I need to check? Also is it a good time to just go to bigger injectors. Or does anyone know where I can get 1 injector for a good price.

If you'd like to send us the injectors we have an in house injector flow bench that allows us to flow each one, sonic clean them, backflush each one then rebuild each unit with new filters, pintle caps and o-rings. Once this is complete we flow each one again and mark them for you.

You could probably sell your old injectors and buy a new set of 55's for almost the same price as getting yours cleaned.

Should be as good as 'new'(maybe better?) and a lot cheaper than new ones. Don't our OEM injectors flow enough to support up to 500 HP?

This would be a much better deal. The key words are: flow, clean, backflush, REBUILD for 125.00

Our injectors should be good for around 700 HP.

$80.00 that's an excellent deal as they state on their site you pointed to that the cost for the above service is $21.00-$23.75 per injector or $168.00 on the low side.. So the 80.00 they charged you is an awesome deal

they have the same machine and offer the same exact service. i guess i didn't use the key words in my post. but they did the ultra sonic cleaning, put new filters on, new o-rings and caps. and their prices on their web sights are sugg. retail. for actual pricing its best to call or e-mail them

It is cheaper just to get these cleaned but I opted to go with new 55# injectors.

Question Tommy

Were you having problems? What kind? I've been having trouble, for over a year now! 01 L. Down on HP. One plug has some sort of contaminate on it. Have lost coolant! Smoked excessively, for about 15 seconds, then stopped! Hasn't lost coolant again for 2 months! Dealer doesn't have a clue, or doesn't want to deal with it! I think it is a head gasket, but how to convince the dealer! I have shown them 3 plugs, out of the same cyl. All are white (not lean) never have burnt a plug!
PS..guess what? #7 cyl.

Albert

Plug looked a little white but the piston had some dings in it and a small part of the edge was whitish color. It seemed to be getting very very hot in that cyl. I am thinking that cyl was running lean. As far as your problem, sounds like a head gasket. One way you may be able to check is, every time ( ) my head gasket goes it pressurizes the coolent tank. Go for a drive and do a few WOTs after it is warmed up. Then open the coolent tanks cap slow, if only a little air comes out you may be ok. If it lets out a lot and the coolent rises violently then you have boost going into the coolent. Hope this helps.
