Question

I'm getting ready to do a FT V/B and want to upgrade my pan aswell... I have questions also.

What is the difference between the 4x4 and the Ford Racing pans?

How much more tranny fluid do I need to get?

Thanks!

Drain Plug

Mine has a Magnet as well, but I'm not sure it's adequate. If you look at the magnet in your stock pan, its about 2 1/12 to 3 inches in diameter and about 3/4 inch tall. That is conseiderably bigger and more powerful than the tip of the drain plug.

Do you think the drain plug magnet will sufice?

Thanks,

John

Well, the filter catches the big crap and the magnet catches the little crap. Having 2 magnets you might start to pick up junk off the road as you drive

Thumbs up

Thanks for the pic VINNIE!

So... is the Ford Racing Pan worth the $150 more?
I'm guessing it keeps the tranny alot cooler since it holds more fluid... right?

But it seems like it sticks down under the truck alot more? Think it is a big risk for a daily driver with all the crap and animals on the road?
I'm at stock height, no plans to go lower since I tow a boat and haul stuff now and then.

Thanks,
James

Get the B&M pan. Cheaper than the FRP, hold just about as much extra fluid, and the drain plug is flush with the bottom of the pan--NO chance of fluid loss.

It's a bling bling part, but I like it. The best way to put a magnet in an aluminum pan is to JB weld a large flat washer around the drain plug, then stick the magnet to the washer. That way you can still clean the wahser if you drop the pan.
