Knock Sensor
Knock Sensor
Opening the channel for the knock sensor was batted around last year. A couple of people said they were looking into it. Sal spoke in 99 about a new table would have to be written for this engine to use the knock sensor. Initially, it was discussed the Diablo Delta chip would open the knock sensor channel in the computer.
With all this said, does anyone know what current R&D has been done to make the knock sensor functional in the 5.4 SC engine in the Lightning?

I do know Sal had said he had some programs that did have the knock sensor turned on.
I do not buy all the BS about not being able to use the knock sensor on a SC engine because on the noise generated by he SC.
My reasons are :
1. Then what kind of knock sensor does a Jaguar XKR use with it's FORD EEC, it's SC'ed?
2. I've worked on Ford DFV's that had EEC-IV (showing my age) that absolutely made a racket and used the knock sensor (to the great delight of he team owner).
So I don't buy Ford's **** poor reason of the SC making too much noise

I have been doing some KS calibrations since 99. It does work. However the difficult part is making the truck pull timing without sacrificing performance. There are over a half dozen different KS tables/functions that need to be calibrated exactly right or it'll work like crap. I've got a handfull of trucks running KS programs, that are just really people willing to test bed the programs to give me back data on performance and drivability from different areas across the country.
