Question Is there water in my engine???

Changed oil today, (5w-20 and filter) and when i removed breather cap, there was a light brownish/white sluge inside the tube, and at bottom of breather.. Felt like petrolem jelly, that kinda texture..

Oil looked fine though when it was draining... Maybe this coulda been from water mist when i washed my engine bay a few months ago?

condensation

Krix330cic,
I have had this issue since I have owned L.. I make alot of short runs with mine. (1.2 miles each way to work 7-days a week) and i feel this is a condensation issue in our motors. I also had the SAME thing on my 99 f-250 w/5.4 . I just wipe out the filler and breather now and then. Jon

Well If I where you, I'd buy a house Waaay down at the shore, so you will have a nice long commute everyday

Sounds like you guy's don't drive your trucks far enough to burn all the moiser out of your motors. I wouldn't worry too much about it and just change your oil every 3000 miles or 3 months ....

I'd change over to a full-synthetic--for many reasons. Here are a few--scroll down to see the comments on "condensation inside your eng.":

common

very common, noticed it two weeks ago on my father's truck when were were working on it, and i've seen it on mine in the past as well. I'm sure you'll see it more up here in the north/northeast region where it continiously heats up and cools down. Noticed it more once the breather cap is installed, so all that air is flowing back and forth. Change your oil regularly and you should be fine.

I still think you should change your oil every 3000 mile or 3 months. Synthetic is obviously better, but you still have dirt in your oil and that's what causes alot of the wear.

Oil is cheap insurance. Dirty oil will destroy the rod and main bearings, which isn't pretty.
