The way it was explained to me is, it takes weather conditions and air temperature into consideration, to try and put all vehicles on a level playing field, so to speak. I know I just did a real bad job trying to explain it, hopefully someone else can do a better job.

It corrects for air temp, humidity, barometric pressure, and altitude(may[?] be more]. All of these factors will have an effect on an eng.'s(especially, a s/c'd one) ability to make hp/tq. The SAE correction factor makes all dyno(same brand/type) pulls/sessions "equal" no matter where you are in the country. Therefore, we can compare 'peaches-to-peaches' in our dyno numbers.
