Should I cut the bumpstops?

I installed the Belltech 2" lowering shackles, after driving a while to let it settle they lowered the rear (measured at the center of the top of the wheel well) by 1 1/4". Now, should I cut the bumpstops to gain back the loss in wheel travel, or will that let something else hit?

When I did my drop shackles I bought new shorter bump stops, But you can cut the stock bump stops if you have to.

I just cut mine for the drop. If you don't want to cut them, try and get 99'-00' bump stops for the rear, they are so much smaller then those yellow ones on the 01'+.

Nope, just gives you a little more suspension travel.

Captain: So you cut or replaced yours, how much shorter are they than stock? And, just to make sure, with the shorter stops, nothing hits, right?

quiksilver - I cut about 2 rings of those big yellow ones on my truck. Occasionally it still hits, but that is only on major bumps.

the new ones from bell tech for the rear are even shorter then my 99 style ones. Plus they are a better material.

Cutting is fine as is replacing the bumpstops.

As for 'hitting', lowering changes the operating range of the shock so it isn't out of the question.

You should also look at addressing the sway bar end links also.

Cutting/welding is one option. Drilling a hole is another, or replace them altogether.

Drilling new holes is probably the best option, because it lets you return to stock height in the future if you choose to. And best of all its free!
