using logic you coudl deduce: High velocity whistle and if it feels like no sc performance then there must be a crack or it's not bolted on right maybe and air is leaking in or out somewhere hence no performance from it.

Nope, no performance lose here, actually better because of the cold air. The noise only happens at 1700 rpm, above that nothing below that nothing. Almost sounds like a stereo whine.

whistle??

I have the same problem but it only started when I removed the stock airbox and replaced it with filter kit. everyone here said it was the s/c (you can hear it better with the cone filter). drives me nuts. I still think sumethings up with my s/c. I took my belt off and sure enough, the whistle went away.

bad s/c

found someone with the same problem I have. Mine started on staturday, going to call the dealer on monday. It started with a loud noise, mine is loudest when I go 55mph. I have build #2054 born on 2/21/02. it started at just under 7000 miles. I had a drop in K&N but took it out, it's still does the same thing. I'll see what they say on my side of the states.

peace

I've heard that the Idle Air Control valve is responsible for the whistle. Does changing the throttle position slightly make the whistle go away?

I haven't heard of any fix for this, other than warmer temps...

Yes, changing the throttle postion slightly does make it go away.
Anything above 1700 rpm or below 1700 rpm it doesn't whistle.

New acold air + throttle body = a cute whistle at 1700rpmish.
