I sure hope that they got the scumbags that stole it. They need to start cutting off the theives hands when they get caught, so they can never steal again!

That is what they do in some middle eastern countries and I dont think that our culture wants to stoop to that level of barbarism.

More related to the topic at hand, if the engine and tranny were still in excellant condition, would this be a good deal for 4700.00?

We do need to do something. Why is it that we have the highest crime rate in the world? Forget about international terrorist, the odds are alot greater you will be a victim of a crime of brutality by a fellow American. Something's not right with our system.

I would be thinking that it is. If you look at the engine photos, the truck still has the stock airbox on it. So my thinking is that the truck owner never got the mod bug. But I could be wrong.

The only thing that I find curious is that the truck was stolen, wrecked and recovered. So why does it NOT have keys? Kinda hard to steal and drive away without the keys

Interesting point! Even if the thief found the truck with one set of keys in the ignition, wouldnt the owner have a backup?

Rhinoslug,
If you are thinking about buying the L drivetrain as a spare at $4700, I don't think it is a good price. If you broke a rod in your current engine I think you would be better off stepping up to a built shortblock. If you blew up your trans, I think you would be happier with a monster box. If you are thinking about using the extra L drivetrain in a different project vehicle I think it is a good buy. As strong as our trucks run stock at 4700lbs, imagine this engine in a vehichle at 3500lbs. I know it could be made to fit in a 1953-56 Ford F-100. An L engine in an older truck would be a killer street rod.

Maybe the thief wrecked the truck, took the keys w/ him when he ran as a momento, and the original owner also kept the second set as his momento and 'rememberance' of his poorly departed L.

Thats what the bumper looks like under the L bumper cover. Looks like the truck was stripped of all its original L equiptment (seats, taillights, badges, and wheels) so more than likely the L bumper cover/fog light housing was taken also.

Could be, I have never stolen a vehicle, so I don't know. But common sense says when your joy-riding in a stolen vehicle and you wreck it ......you haul *** on foot. You don't look for a "momento".
I'll start paying closer attention, while watching COPS and see if any of the "perps" running from the law in a stolen car, take the keys out when they flee

We have a little thing called PATS

Maybe the keys "disappeared" so you can't hear the engine run. Makes me wonder about the true condition of the engine.
