'03 Cobra in shop right now with mods...
hi guys, I've got an '03 Cobra in my bay right now in the best color Sonic Blue
. it's only got 3000 miles, already has an bassani x-pipe, flowmaster cat back, blower pulley, coil overs on all 4 corners, cold air kit, chrome saleen wheels and who knows what else, a chip i'm sure.
maybe I should void his warranty
just kidding.
can't wait to catch this guy on the street

So what's wrong with it Chris>??? Inquiring minds would like to know. So the mechanic desides whether or not the warranty gets voided or are you folks just a mod friendly dealer>??? -Mat-

nothing major, mostly just needed an extra pats key and has a small oil drip from rear diff cover.
as for who decides if the warranty is voided, well that's totally up to ford, but it's not like theres a Ford Corporate warranty inspector standing around checking every vehicle before it comes into the shop or something. so, the mechanic is the one who would see the mods and let somebody know about them in most cases. unless the service manager or somebody was actively seeking them out before or when the vehicle entered the shop.
for example, if I went to the trouble of removing his entire rear differential center section and pulled the cover off to reseal it and found that he had installed some 4.10 gears and whoever sealed the cover after the mod hadn't done it properly. this wouldn't be ford's fault or failure, so why should ford cover it and why should I fix somebody else's screw up under piddly warranty time? understand what I mean? at this point the tech would make a decision to overlook the mod (unlikely for above mentioned reasons) and just fix it under warranty, or to go to the customer and let them know that this is now their responsiblity to pay for the repair.
at any point during the diagnosis (not so much on an oil leak situation such as this, but more likely in an engine or transmission failure) the tech may have been in contact with ford for prior approval or diagnostic technical help reasons, ford would likely ask the tech to check for specific mods. when ford obtained this info, they might choose to void the warranty or whatever they feel like doing.

Chris, does that car have the Cobra R wing on the back of it? When I was driving to work this morning, I saw a really nice looking Sonic Blue Mustang roll by that was lowered with the Saleen wheels, but it had the enormous Cobra R wing on the back of it.
He was long gone up the road before I could pull out to catch up with him, but I thought it looks pretty damn good.

Cheap insurance and it lets you connect with the mechanic. That being said, if I threw a rod thru the block, I wouldn't expect Ford to pay for my problems
