Did you know that it takes less than 10 minutes to change a PSP or JL lower pulley to different one? An "interchangeable" setup will have 6 different bolts to undo instead of just 3 like JL's or PSP's.

I really think JL and PSP should start offering a "package" deal if you purchase 2 pulleys, instead of 1. Are you listening guys?

You can get to the interchangeable pulley allen head bolts a lot easier than you can the bolts holding the pulley onto the crankshaft, that is the benefit.

Well everyone should have the simple hex extension in order to reach the back 3. Like I said, it took less than 10 min. to swap them over, and another owner was still working on his Metco swap.

The only justification I can that it has, is that the Metco with 2 rings is about 150 less than what it would cost to just buy 2 standard lower pulleys. That's definitely a big enough justification, and why I think JL and PSP should step up to the plate and lower the price if a customer buys 2 instead of 1.

Something else to consider is that the Metco 6 does not measure as large as a JL 6. It's more around a 5.

The Metco you can change from the top and the others from the laying on the ground. That's one other positive thing.. You can buy a ring by itself, instead of a whole other pulley size.

Did the other L owner with the Metco pulley take the belt off first..

Before you blast me Gen2 Lightning,

I have a JL 5lb lower on my L.

Yep the Metco pulleys 4 and 6 are smaller than other 4 and 6 pound pulleys. I know because I have had those combos..

If you measure from the lip the pulley has, that wouldn't be a correct way to size the pulley.. Did you measure from the ribs on each pulley?

Who's blasting you? We're having a nice discussion IMHO.

I'll still state that standard pulley sellers should offer a package deal for 2 different sized pulleys for less. The only drawback is that someone may try to work himself and his friend a deal up in this, but this can be minimized by only offering 2 different sized pulleys.

Before you blast me DL I know how to measure pulleys The Metco pulleys were smaller when measuring to the grooves plus the belt tensioner is in another position with the same belt. So one would have to assume the Metco pulleys are smaller. This actual test was done on a 6lber.

I know, I just kidding....

I agree Gen2 Lightning, that was the best part of JDM and Metco offering interchangeable pulleys. You don't have to pay as much for a second ring size.

Did you call Metco and let them know? Maybe JL's or PSP's 6 lber is really a 7 lber instead, that would be good. Who's the math guru around here?

JeffsLightning,

Did you measure with one beer or after several? just kiddding, I'm not blasting you..yet..j/k

Your most likely right DL the 6's are 5's and or 7's. LOL Bottom line is what works for you or anyone else getting pulleys.. I think most people would say a 9" is a 6 on a Lightning at least theoretically..
