Question Raven Mufflers worth 25hp!?!?!?

Anyone ever heard of Raven Mufflers? The guy at one of our local muffler shops is claiming that just by installing these Raven mufflers I'd pick up 25 hp at the wheels. Now there is a full chassis dyno close by and I'd go through with the purchase if he'd agree to back up his claim of 25hp or my money back and stock muffler replaced at no charge. But I won't even waste my time if there is already info out on these mufflers that states otherwise. I always see info on MAC & BASSANI but never even heard of these Ravens.

don't waste your time. mufflers don't net much power on our trucks and there's no way you're going to see a 25 rwhp increase

however they *might* sound nice and be quality (i have never had experience or heard about their mufflers).

He probably pays the dyno operator to somehow pump up the dyno #'s.

Sounds like a good scam. Good for the dyno guy to get business and good for the muffler shop. I knew I got into the wrong business.

Hey guys - I would not believe that. I have one of these on my SCrew and I did not notice an increase in power after install - just sounded better. I must admit, I do like the tones that mine puts out, but that was the only reason I put one on.

Ravins

Wendy -

On my first Lightning (Silver 2000) I had Ravins installed (did two single in and single out)

Back then they had an exclusive contract with Midas and were only sold thru them...I don't know what their deal is now however.

Normally I wouldn't have let Midas touch my truck but this particular Midas shop was owned by a friend of the guy who owns the Lexus dealership I had my Lexus serviced at.

The Midas guy who installed them told me the HP thing was BS and the only reason for installing them would be the sound. They were installed with the promise that if I didn't like the sound they'd take them off and replace the stock muffler.

I liked the sound and kept them. Did I notice more power? No. However I will swear my gas mileage improved by about one or two miles per gallon.

At that Midas shop the whole crew was so excited that they had a Lightning there that the crew watched the guy install them. Since I had special service I can't speak to how some other midas dealer would install them, but this guy took extra care, did welding and actually did a nice job, and even improved the position of the tips so it all worked for me.

Since I no longer have the connection for the special service (that guy no longer at the Midas place) I am not sure I would consider the ravins...I also am thinking about the Bassani or JDM catbacks anyway, whoever I got lots of compliments on the sound of the Ravins on my 2000.

For what it's worth.

Thumbs up thanks for the info guys

I don't think the Dynamo guys and the Muffler guys are in cahoots or anything. I doubt he'd be willing to put my money where his mouth is either but maybe he would. Thanks tho for the info ya'll gave and thanks for the lank Spank.

Z55 on the Screw here

I had the Z55 SI/DO put on my truck a few years ago, and it's holding together quite well, however I agree, I don't think I got much in performance gains....just a nice tone that I feel really fits the truck.

I paid waaaaaay to much for it and would never do it again, but rather go with a magnaflow or whatever that one is that these boards have said were the best performance muffler available right now.

Ravin does have nice exhaust tips available though. Lots of different styles.

Well...maybe the Ravin muffler AND their decal pasted on your truck = 25 HP.
